What's on your Limelight List?

Good morning! I don't have eye candy to share yet this morning, but I do have some cool shopping news for you... but first... what have I been doing all weekend? Snow, snow, snow, sewing, a little bit of knitting, and a little bit of baking. I was very bad and didn't get any of my packages off until today - keep your fingers crossed that my packages arrive by Wednesday and don't even get me started on the card thing. There are so many people I wanted to send cards out to and all I have to say is maybe I can whip a few more today to send out. Hanging head in shame...

So, for the good news though!!! If you have a long list of goodies that you wanted to treat yourself to and just couldn't decide which should go the top, cease your worrying! Mandy is having a flat 20% off everything at Limelight Papercrafts, so just load up and when you're done use code
XmasGift (all one word).

Hope to be back later...

Its my Day of the 12 Days of Christmas at Limelight Papercrafts

This is the 2nd post today! Make sure you scroll down so you don't miss the Sketch and Product Challenge - you have all weekend to play.

On the 11th Day of Christmas My True Love game to me...

Wowza folks, we are just about done with the 12 days of Christmas - Yikes!!! Anyway, today is my day and its real simple. I have pictures of three doors that represent the infamous 3 Mystery Doors.

So here's the scoop. All you have to do is guess which door today's prize is behind - Door 1, Door 2, or Door 3. Now the twist is that one of these doors is really MY DOOR (haha). You don't have to be right so please just play along for fun. Everyone's post will be put into the pot and will be randomly picked by some mystery child in my house :).

Now for the prize behind the door. Well, as you know, I love Kaisercraft, so its perfect that Mandy paired me with these 2 great items ---- Kaisercraft Christmas Bell Rhinestone Picture and Kaisercraft Christmas Mix Flowers.

You've got until midnight (EST) time tonight to make your guess and reply to this post and I'll pick a winner tonight and post tomorrow. Have fun and good luck!!

So after you post, make sure you go visit the store because Mandy still has those specials going on! Today's item is TaDa Fiddle Dee Frame cardmaking kit (8-pk) for $5.

Thanks for playing along for all these days. Mandy and the team have done an awesome job and I hope you have had fun. Remember, there will be a grand prize winner at the end of it all too!

Limelight 6 Chicks Thursday Sketch and Product Challenge

Wowza, lots of stuff going on at Limelight Papercrafts! I will start off with our Thursday Sketch and Product Challenge. Here's a blurb straight from the Horse's mouth - which happens to be our lovely Brandi Parshley (hehe)

There's something magical about falling flakes of snow that has the ability to captivate both those young and old. Whether it's your first snowfall or your 50th, you can't help but be mesmerized by the beauty of falling snow. Today we celebrate snow and say "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" Let's see those snowflakes and snowmen stamps! Mesmerize us with snowy fun flock hills and glistening trees covered in snow. Anything with snow goes in this sketch and product challenge!

Here are the dirty details:

  • Sketch and Product Challenge theme - Let it snow, snowflakes, snowmen, anything with snow.
  • If you happen to have Limelight goods - Awesome! But IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT. Geesh we all have a lot, so just use what ya got, join the fun, and play along.
  • The winning participant will receive their choice of any type of glitter that is offered at Limelight.
  • Entries are submitted by posting a comment and a link to the card or online gallery on Mandy's blog.
  • All entries must be submitted by Sunday, December 14th by midnight.
  • Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC0010
Here is my take on the sketch:

I think this card turned out very cute and Brandi, I do like the sketch - it worked out great for me. I cut my strips of cardstock and then ran them through my cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots Folder and the Snowflakes Folder. Then I took the Angel Wings Shimmerz and with a sponge brush covered the entire strip (just the darker blue cardstock). I love how it turned out. I then used my Martha Stewart Snowflake punch and then covered them with the Shimmerz too and finally added a little bit of extra bling with the tiny rhinestones in the center.

For the image, I got out my Stampedous penguin, stamped him with my Memento Black Tuxedo ink and then colored him with my Copics. Not a lot to color so it was super fast. I also added a little more Shimmerz to his scarf. Thanks to my friend Becky who happened to stop by while I was working on this card. She's the one that suggested the Shimmerz.

And finally, I stamped "happy holidays" (Unity's Bitty Christmas Tags) and punched it out with my Word Window punch.

Make sure to visit the other Limelight Ladies for even more inspiration:

Please come have tea with me

Good morning friends! Today I am sharing a little gift that I put together for my craft fair last month. I'm pretty sure I got this idea from one of the blog hops that Papertrey ink hosted. The concept behind that one was to use CD holders in some way and wow there were some amazing ideas. I keep most of my clear stamps in CD holders so I have a lot on hand and I thought this made such a cute little presentation.

I used that ever so popular Basic Grey Wassail. You can find it over at Limelight along with some other incredible paper. I lined the front and front and then placed 4 bags of tea in the middle. My band was decorated with the lacy Martha Stewart punch. I think that is my favorite lacy/doily punch out there on the market. The reason I'm even showing you this project is because I just HAD to use my new TaDa stamp from Limelight. I think this little tea cup is just perfect, although it could also pass for a latte cut too. I stamped it and then stamped it again on the decorative paper, cut it out, and then pop dotted it on my first stamped image. Then I punched it out with a 1 1/4" punch and then framed it on a SU! Scallop Punch.

Here are a couple more pictures.

{Recipe}
Cardstock: Olive (CTMH)
DP: Basic Grey Wassail
Ink: Olive (CTMH)
Stamps: Tee Hee Cup (TaDa)
Other: Circle Punch, SU! Scallop Punch, CD case,PTI Ribbon

Yes, the days keep moving on and today is Day 10 of the 12 Days of Christmas at Limelight Papercrafts. Hop on over to Tiffany's blog and have some fun!

And Mandy will have another special item for you over at Limelight! Its Candle Light Shimmerz for only $3.00.

Ok, I'm pooped... hang in there until tomorrow and we'll have our Thursday Limelight Sketch and Challenge for you as well as MY DAY for the 12 days of Christmas!!!

Thanks for coming to visit -- truly from the bottom of my heart!

Brrr... get those mittens out and more...

Good morning! Ok, I have to say that I just love this card I'm sharing with you. I really enjoyed the whole mitten theme the other day and I really wanted to make another mitten card.

I used some Pink Paislee paper that I just received from Mandy the other day. I used my mitten template and cut my cardstock and then cut another layer of the printed paper. Then I took my ruler and and drew lines across my mitten so I could see where to sew. Don't look to closely, my tension was all off... I then covered it with my beloved Kaisercraft Rhinestones in 3 different colors and 3 different sizes at all the intersections where my seams crossed. Then, I had to do the whole paper chenille look again - thank you, thank you Lori McCroskey, becasue I can't get enough of that look. Its white Mulberry paper that is sewn on and then cut fringe like and then stylishly "fluffed". I used the same thing for my cookie box -->HERE<--, but Lori's blog Clearly iStamp is where I originally saw the technique. Click -->HERE<-- for her tutorial. I finished my card with a bit of ribbon and a super cute stamped image of a snowman from Unity Co.'s stamp set called Bitty Christmas Tags. I got this set from Limelight and it has really been one of my go to sets this season.

{Recipe}
Cardstock: Olive (CTMH)
DP: Pink Paislee

Busy, Busy, Busy - Color Challenge, Day 8, Blog Candy

Busy, busy, busy. Isn't' that the mantra that we are either saying or hearing right now. It is definitely one of the craziest times of the year for sure. Yesterday was the day Hunter finally got his birthday party - poor kid - he ended up waiting a week afterwards for it. But fun was had by all. Actually, I'm not sure since I wasn't there for the most of it. I took the boys shopping for goody bags since I had forgotten to make any - it was my intention to leave with the twins anyway so it all worked out. Let me tell you they are not fun to shop with though. This is what I heard most of the time unless they were looking at toys - "I don't like that."

I have one little story to share though and then we'll move to more crafty stuff. So we are browsing around and we get to an end cap with Lightening McQueen (a toy car) and Will decided that he has to have it and proceeds to snatch it right up and put it into the cart (he is in the basket part of it). I did some quick thinking and decided that it would be best to just let him hold onto it for now becuase I really didn't want to listen to a wailing child. We meander our way to the checkout line and when we get up there the boys help me put everything on the counter. Then I distract them by telling theme there are some neat cards to look at while I very quickly whisper to the checker "I don't want this... could you please hide it away... thank you." She was very understand and whisks it under the counter and rings up the rest of my things. I pay and off we go. Will is asking me about his car and I hold him off saying that we need to get into the car first and get settled. Once we are in the car and all belted in I give him the bag and let him look. He searches around and says that he can't find it and I act all surprised, shocked, and sympathetic and then proceed to tell him that the "bad" checker must have forgotten to put it in the bag. And that was that. No tantrums or anything. He just said "oh" and off we went. Bad Mommy huh??? I thought the whole thing was so cute and a riot.

Ok, so back to the whole busy, busy, busy thing. I want to first start off by letting everyone know that Linda Borneman did and is going to be hosting a weekend color challenge over at the Clear Dollar Stamps group forum at Paper Craft Planet. Click -->HERE<-- for all the details. I hope you can play next week. This is a great way to get those CDstamps inked up!

There are so many wonderful challenge and sketch blogs out there and I just haven't been able to play as much lately and it just makes me sad... but I did manage to squeeze in Linda's. Color challenges are nice because it does give you a starting point, but are also very general. Anything goes once you've got the colors. This card is what I did for it. The colors were Red, White, and Teal. This was really a very simple card, just layering the colors.

Edited to add: And the bonus here is that it also works for Stamp Something Challenge this week - Snow Something :)

{Recipe}

Cardstock: Ocean, White (CTMH), Pure Poppy (PTI)
Ink: White Daisy, Ocean (CTMH), Pure Poppy (PTI)
Stamps: Fanciful Flakes (CDstamps)
Other: PTI Ribbon, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, SU! Word Window Punch

**************************************************************************************************
Next up is the continuation of the 12 Days of Christmas over at Limelight Papercrafts. Today is Day 8 and you need to head on over to Sarah Anderson's Blog - The Scrampin" Mama for the challenge. Her prize is a Unity Stamp - you'll have to go visit to find out which one :)

And don't worry, Mandy has a new item she is featuring at the store - Bazzill Just the Edge cardstock strips for $2.

Remember the more you play the better chance you have at the Grand Prize!!!

****************************************************************************************************

BLOG CANDY - yep - Lori over at Clearly iStamp is offering up some more blog candy for you. Its easy peasy and you should head on over and leave a comment for her - another easy question for you to answer. Hint - I love that stamp set that is up for grabs.

*****************************************************************************************************

And finally, if you are interested in seeing a picture of Hunter's cake yesterday head on over to My Family Blog. I'm telling you now it isn't anything mind blowing, its just the cake he wanted sort of.

Ok, I think that is it... as usual I feel like I've forgotten something, but I guess I can always add it on later.

Thanks for visiting once again and I wish everyone a wonderful day and week.

Day 7 of 12

The countdown continues with the 12 Days of Christmas at Limelight Papercrafts! Today is Day 7 and is being hosted by Brandi Parshley. Hop on over for a chance at a great prize and of course Mandy has a great special at the store. Today's item is Little Yellow Bicycle Christmas Magic Clear Stamp Set for only $9.

I also wanted to share the little project I had my club make yesterday. This is such a cute, but simple project. I first saw it quite awhile ago on Cambia's blog and have actually made it quite a few times. The stamp and paper are from CTMH and I'm so disappointed that they discontinued the lighter aqua aka Breeze color. This was one of my faves. The printed paper is also retiring - so sad, but that great little circle stamp is from a super cute Valentine set called All My Love. I thought it worked perfectly though for this little winter treat. The snow flake is a Martha Stewart punch and the little candies are those inexpensive mints.

That's it for me today... except for Hunter's birthday party later this afternoon. I've decided that after food, cake, and presents, I am taking the twins and leaving - not sure what we'll be doing or where we'll be doing it at, but it will be a lot more fun for the older boys if the little ones aren't there.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful Sunday.

Limelight Papercrafts Cookie Wrap Up Extravaganza

I know all you bloggers know exactly how I feel right now because I had a completed post and I am always irritated with how my pictures and text are formatted so I was playing with it afterwards and due to my own stupidly I managed to delete the entire post - can the heavens hear my screams of agony!!!

Anyway, back to our regular programming. Mandy, our fearless Limelight Leader challenged the DT to create some sort of cookie/treat packaging with a matching card or recipe. I enjoyed creating my project.

My idea all stemmed from a mitten cookie cutter that I purchased at Joanns. Here is a picture of my cookies all baked and decorated. This is my all time favorite recipe and comes from one of my very bestest friends in the world - I'm waving to you Lisa!!!

Here is a picture of my complete ensemble. I used Little Yellow Bicycle Paper Pad from Limelight. I have gotten a lot of mileage from this paper pad. I adore it and I still have plenty of paper to play with.

I wanted to keep my mitten them so I created a template to create the card and the top of my box. My box is actually fairly small since my purpose wasn't to package up all the cookies, but rather a sample of them and then add the recipe and the cookies cutter along my gift. I made the box lid and then just attached my mitten template to it. The mitten top and the mitten card are the same template. The mitten tag is actually the size of the cookie cutter. I used my cutter to trace the tag. I quickly lined my box with freezer paper, but you could use wax paper if that's what you have. This prevents any oils from spreading to the cardstock.

Here is view from the top. I also decided to write my recipe right inside my card. I figured that the recipient could just copy the recipe using their own recipe system. I also considered word processing it, but decided I liked the look of hand written, although I'm not a huge fan of my own penmanship. I know most of you can relate to that one.

And one more view from the side. The snowflakes are from a Martha Stewart punch and I added just a bit of sparkle with some stickles. The sentiment on my mitten and the little tag are from Unity Co.'s Bitty Christmas Tags - again, another favorite stamp set of mine.

{Recipe}
Cardstock: Colonial White (CTMH), DP: Little Yellow Bicycle, Ink: Olive (CTMH), Stamps: Bitty Christmas Tags (Unity Co.), Other: Scor-pal, CTMH Ribbon, Chalk Ink, Martha Stewart Snowflake Punch, Stickles

Well, I know that's a lot, but guess what?? There is even more. Today is Day 6 of the 12 Days of Christmas at Limelight Papercrafts. Visit Becky's Blog for some more fun and a chance to win even more prizes. There is still plenty of time to join the fun so don't miss out! I'm so Spacey

Good morning everyone!!! All right, I probably am spacey, but in reality its Changito the Monkey who is spacey today (lol). I just got this new set of Changitos yesterday with my Limelight Papercraft order. As soon as I saw this set, I knew I had to have it. And as soon as I got it, I had to make a quick card with him. Isn't he cute??

I stamped in Memento Black Tuxedo ink and then colored him in with Copics - super fast and easy. I also used some scraps of Kaisercraft Paper I already had. The first time I used this paper, I paired it with Pink Cat Studio's Billy, but I think it works just as well with little Changito. I like the stars on the paper. I then added a bit of sparkle with my Spica Gold Pen and that is it.

Now, reminders...

Today is Day 5 of the 12 Days of Christmas at Limelight Papercrafts. I hope you have had time to participate and are having fun! Visit Ryann over at The Inked Spot for a chance to play for... some Shimmerz in Periwinkle!!! Visit this POST for the rest of the 12 Days schedule and finally, today's special item at Limelight Papercrafts is... Changito Elf Rubber Stamp - you know I love Changito :)

And tomorrow I'll be sharing a project that Mandy challenged the entire DT to come up with - some sort of cookie/sweet holiday packaging. I love my project and think it turned out terribly cute. You can be the judge tomorrow ;)

And once again, I feel like I've forgotten something and I'm sure I'll remember when I hit post. Either way, have a fabulous Friday!!!

Some super quickie Thank You Cards

Good morning! I wanted to share some super fast thank you cards that I made for Hunter. In the past, I've had him draw all his own etc, but I decided to make them and then just let him write a note and sign them.

The stamps used were a Close to my Heart Set called Flyin' High and a Stampin Up! set. The paper is some from my stash.

Limelight 6 Chicks Thursday Sketch and Product Challenge

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving! I know I sound like a broken record, but I just don't know where the time has gone. The year is practically over - there I said it!

Well, when you are totally stuffed and have some time to lounge come and play with the Limelight Ladies. It is that time again and you have all weekend to play along with our Sketch and Product Challenge. Brandi does it again with an awesome sketch and the challenge is simple - Use Black in celebration of Black Friday! If you plan on going out, good for you. Me, I'm staying in with no intentions of braving the crowds. I'll get my fill when I listen to the news and hear about the stories of all you crazies out there (lol).

So here are the dirty details:

  • Sketch and Product Challenge focusing on BLACK for Black Friday.
  • If you happen to have Limelight goods - Awesome! But IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT. Geesh we all have a lot, so just use what ya got, join the fun, and play along.
  • The winning participant will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to Limelight Papercrafts - yahoo!
  • Entries are submitted by posting a comment and a link to the card or online gallery on Mandy's blog.
  • All entries must be submitted by Sunday, November 30th by midnight.
  • Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC009
Here is my take on the sketch. I turned it horizontally and adjusted my block placement just a tad. Can you tell me what I missed until I looked at the picture I had taken? It just bugs me to no end, but it was too late to fix it and it makes for a nice card. Overall, I was pleased with the way it turned out. Black and red are never wrong together.

I used Polka Dot Basics from Papertrey ink in black for my background and then used a really cute stamp from Limelight called Catherine's Berry Corner Left from Odd Bird Planet. I stamped the image in a Cocoa color and then added stickles for the berries. The merry christmas sentiment is a Unity Co. stamp from a set called Bitty Christmas Tags.

And make sure you head on over to Limelight Papercrafts for some awesome specials tomorrow.
