Make a Wish and a Vent

I'm going to VENT (without a lot of dialog) - be forewarned, don't feel bad if you want to bypass it. Just go past the dotted line.

I had my post written and ready to go and Kevin mentions something that had been discussed at work. I was completely outraged!!!

Listen very carefully... If you want to KILL someone or someones, do it with a car and you will more than likely get away with it.

One of Kevin's employee's niece and her friend were killed almost 1 1/2 years ago. The final sentencing was yesterday and...

The DRUNK woman driving the vehicle hit both girls and killed them, leaving 2 small children behind plus a devastated family. She will serve 90 days in jail with no apology.

Is that justice?

****************************************************************************************
Good morning!!! Oh, can you believe it is actually October 1st? I'm still reeling!

Just a reminder to you that all the New Releases and there's a bunch plus lots of extra goodies are now available for purchase at CD Stamps. If you didn't know, Lori (owner) has lots of other fun stuff for sale - nestabilities, cuttlebug folders, Bind it All (and stuff), Stickles, really cool and different brads, and lots of other goodies.

October 1st also means the beginning a crazy fall for me. I have to get going on 3 Halloween costumes. This year, Hunter says he wants to be a pirate. It works out pretty cool, because the twins are going to be pirates too. We decided that I would make a fancier pirate costume for Hunter and Nate and Will can be "grungier" pirates (lol).

Its definitely a sign of something that Hunter chose to be a pirate for Halloween. He is going to be 9 in December and ever since he was 4 years old, he has been Robin Hood - EVERY SINGLE YEAR. I had to remake the costume 3 times.

Then, my MIL birthday is Nov. 1st, SIL is Nov. 13th, Kevin's is Nov. 17th, Nate and Will is Nov. 19th, and Hunter's is Dec. 1st, my nephew is Dec. 2nd, my sister's is Dec. 12th, my Grandmother's is Dec 23rd ( I'm pretty sure) and MIL's husband's is Dec. 27th (I think). Phewww... I'm just tired typing it all out.

So now that you know when to send all the gifts (hehe), I'll get on with my sketch card. I am very happy to be able to say that I got to Lauren Meader's saturday sketch. It was definitely a fun one to do. I was at my local Michaels and they had completely revamped their stamp sections. There was a huge display of new Inkadinkado Clear Stamps as well as a bunch of new and updated Hero Arts stamps. If I could have, I would have bought them all. But, I didn't and the one that I did buy was this fairy set from Inkadinkado. Fairies aren't necessarily my thing or style, but they can be when I stamp.

Here is a close up of my little fairy... and you can see the subtle shimmer that was created when I colored over my image with my Spica Glitter Pen. I love those things and use them often.

I did use three other stamp sets with the card though. The sentiment and the double lined circle are Papertrey ink sets, and the dotted circle is a Close to my Heart set. Love to combine those sets.

Well, I had better run. I'm meeting a couple of friends to go over a few things this morning and I think I will swing by Joann's and take a peak at their fabric again.

Hope you all have a great day and thanks for visiting.

Recipe:
Cardstock: White, Blush (Papertrey ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: Shapes by Design, Mixed Messages (Papertrey ink), Fairies (Inkadinkado), Its a Party (Close to my Heart)
Other: Copics, Nestabilities, Copic Atyou Spica Glitter Pens, Papertrey ink ribbon, cuttlebug tag die

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peak #4

Wow, we are up to day 4 already. That means TOMORROW is the day for ordering - yahoo! I'm going to just ambush you today with what I have left.

First, I want to start off with a single stamp that will be available for purchase. One of the neat things about Clear Dollar Stamps that I personally LOVE is that there are individual stamps, smaller sets, as well as the larger stamp sets available. This is the perfect example of diversity! There is really a choice for everyone and for everyone's budget.

So, to get back to my sample. For some reason, I love the idea of the tooth fairy. I don't really remember all the details of when I was young, but they must have been good because I remember fondly the ritual of losing my teeth and getting that something special from the Tooth Fairy. In my case, I had a tooth fairy pillow. The pillow is approximately 5"square with a little pocket on the back to put your tooth in and to receive that "treat". The scalloped tag houses a neat little poem about the tooth fairy. Just recently, my Mom gave me the one I used as a child and I have made several "updated" versions for friends. That is what I did with this pillow.

I made this pillow with my best friend's little girl in mind. Brenda has two boys and one little girl is just a couple of months younger than my twins. If you haven't guessed it already, she is the princess in that household.

I purchased one of those iron on gemstone transfers and attached it to my pillow and then on the little pocket I stamped the soon to be available tooth fairy stamp. In your case, all you have to do is personalize it with a fabric marker with your child's name, initials, and maybe the date of the first lost tooth. This stamp would also be great in a scrapbook to celebrate the loss of teeth.

Now, I also had to make one that was a bit more of a boy theme, but I changed it up and used a tin rather than a pillow. I could totally see a little treasure chest altered with the tooth fairy stamp onto a little round tag. How cute would that be? Anyway, here is my tin.

I even made a little soft pillow to go inside to house that precious tooth.

I remember that my oldest was so thrilled to lose his first tooth and we made a HUGE deal of it. I think Kevin put in 5 bucks that first night. I know, I can hear many of you gasping in astonishment, but let me tell you that every other time was the normal (I'm assuming normal - what do you all do?) 2 or 4 quarters. It was usually whatever we could scrounge up.

And that is if we remembered. OH MY Gosh - give me the Bad Mommy award here. So often I would forget and have to come up with some super uber lame reason as to why the Tooth Fairy didn't make it.

**********************************************************************************
Anyway, now that you know my deep dark secret, I do have one more stamp set to share with you. This one is another favorite of mine and of course it is Charlie looking ever so cute as a reindeer.

I have a lot of pictures so I'm just going to post. If you have any questions you are free to ask because I promise I'll answer. This is a long post for me and I'm going to cut it short towards the end. If I get time, I'll add all the little details later.
Just a little fluff on his antlers.

Close up:

Changing up the color scheme here. I love blues and whites for the holidays.

And another close up. I added glitter to the embossed snowflakes.

Thanks for sticking with me. Just one more day and you can fill up those shopping carts :)

I've been tagged x 2

Ok, this is my 3rd post today. Yikes - lots of reading if your in the mood; actually not that much reading since I don't think I really say all that much (lol).

Anyway, this past week I was tagged by 2 incredibly talented ladies who happen to design along with me for Clear Dollar Stamps. Its been fun getting to "know" them and we'll get the rest of the year to get to "know" each other even better.

Please check out Lorelie's blog (My Paper Adventures) and Linda's blog (My Little Yellow House) to a) read about their 7 interesting/random facts about themselves and b) check out their gorgeous sneak peaks of the New Release stamps that will be available from Clear Dollar Stamps on October 1st.

Here are the "official" rules:

Tagging Game Rules:
1. Link your tagger and list the rules on your blog
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs
4. Let them know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog

I'm copping out of tagging 7 people at the moment, but I'll make a list and check it twice (oops, I guess I'm getting sidetracked with the wrong list - hehe). Anyway, I'll do it later, but I will share 7 facts. Mind you I have to think hard, very hard for these... I so don't think of myself as that interesting.

1. I hate slugs more than any other type of insect or bug. They just make me quake.

2. I'm not in the same ball park as Lorelie, but I don't get my hair cut very often. At the most once a year and often times I ask my husband to do it while I'm standing in the shower.

3. I just got a chance to visit with my uncle. It had been 21 years since the last time I saw him

4. My younger brother has been diagnosed as a schizophrenic and is living his life to the best of his ability and we love him. I'm so grateful that my little sister is around to check on him here and there.

5. I don't eat this often, as in its been decades, but I remember loving to eat corned beef hash (comes in a can if you didn't know), with 2 over easy eggs, along with some creamed corn (also comes in a can) - and don't be grossed out, but I love to mix my foods (also hash browns, eggs, ketchup)

6. I love Musicals - Grease, My Fair Lady, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, Oklahoma, Darby O'Gill and the Little People (loved, loved Sean Connery), Oliver, Hello Dolly, Guys and Dolls. I guess its mostly the older ones since I haven't seen many of the newer ones. I did go so Rent which was awesome.

7. Wow.... I'm thinking here.... I hate having grey hair, but am too lazy to color it.

If you read this then kudos to you!!! You are truly a blogging friend (lol). 'Till next time.

Oh and P.S. I've added more pictures to my family blog of San Diego.

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peak #3

I've got two posts today :) so keep going if you have time.

What a Hoot! Hoo, Hoo, Hooray! Isn't' he or she the cutest? I really enjoyed inking this little owl up - FOR SURE :) This little guy and a whole bunch of new releases will be available at Clear Dollar Stamps on October 1st!

For the 1st card, I decided to go a bit more a la natural. I used PTI Kraft cardstock as my card base and then added Cloud 9 Designer paper and then wrinkled/distressed the edges surround the stamped image. I colored my owl with copics and then finished it off some CTMH twill ribbon.

Recipe:
Cardstock: Kraft (PTI), Desert Sand, Colonial White (CTMH)
DP: Cloud 9 Designs
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Stamps: What a Hoot (CDStamps)
Other: Twill Ribbon (CTMH), Copics, Nestability Label Die, Brads

My next card was done in blue's and I used a piece of chipboard from my stash as the branch. Also added a bit of white fun flock to the owl. If you haven't tried fun flock you really should. It adds such a cool detail to your stamped images.

Recipe:
Cardstock: White (CTMH), DP: CTMH, Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stamps: What a Hoot (CDStamps), Other: Copics, Chipboard, Fun Flock Nestability Tag Die, SU! Ticket Punch.

For my last card, I went completely peachy. Laurie Wilson, the CDS DT Coordinator always has fun challenges for us to focus on while we are making our samples. I personally love these and using some sort of peachy color was one of them. This card kind of reminds me of a yummy creamsicle too. I love the pink and peach together.

Recipe:
Cardstock: Taffy, Baby Pink, White (CTMH), Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stamps: What a Hoot (CDStamps), Other: Embossing Folder, Circle and Scallop Punches, Copics, PTI Ribbon

Thanks for coming to visit and check out these great stamps that will be avaialbe very soon. Patience is a virtue (lol). If you can believe it or not, I will have even more samples tomorrow.

Happy Owl - oween

I'm so happy that I was able to squeeze this in for Beate's Weekend Sketch. I have been meaning to do one ever since she got back and yeah - finally! And lucky for me it also counts as my challenge card for Stamp Something. Their challenge is just that - stamp something :) Can't go wrong there can ya???

I picked up this really cute owl set from Carrie over at My Little Stamp Shack. She is the best and she has a great selection of fun stamps to choose from. If you need something - go ask her - really!!! I was looking for some stamps from Impression Obsession which she carries, but just not the ones that I was looking at. A quick e-mail to her and voila, they were mine. I got some really cool Halloween stamps so hopefully I can get them inked up before Halloween.

I also just (as in yesterday) got some fun new Halloween paper from My Minds Eye at my local scrapbooking store. My friends and I got to go hang out at their open house and do some fun projects while were there. I had my very first experience with Vinyl which was pretty cool. If you are ever in Bellingham you should stop by Treasury of Memories.

I also added some fun black stickles to my owl's cape and hat after I cut them out and pop dotted them. It added just the right amount of bling. I got my Black Diamond Stickles at Limelight Papercrafts. I'm still working on my collection of Stickles and Kaisercraft bling!

Thanks for visiting again!!!

Cardstock: Kraft (PTI), Autumn Terracotta (CTMH)

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peak #2

Happy Sunday! Wow, the days are just slipping by. I can't believe that its almost October, which means that I HAVE TO/NEED TO think Halloween costumes. I've always made costumes so I need to get in high gear and get some things done!

Just a reminder that the stamps that I have been previewing and will be previewing will all be available first thing on October 1st at Clear Dollar Stamps (CDStamps or CDS).

Today's samples definitely have me in the fall mood. Coming back from San Diego where it was super warm to home where it is down right chilly has definitely hit the fall thing home. My cards today feature the wonderful and fabulous Charlie himself and a sentiment that comes from this stamp set called Charlie Autumn. I {heart} him for sure.

This first card features Charlie having a super fun romp in some leaves. Don't we all want to play in the perfectly fallen and dry of course leaves? I think if I were to lay on my back with my feet up in the air, I wouldn't look nearly as cute as Charlie. I also have a close up picture of Charlie's "fur". I accented him with some fun flock (something else I {heart}). I also stamped out an extra layer of leaves and used pop dots to add even more depth to the leaves. The background stamped images are from last month's release called Autumn Blessings. These two sets compliment each other perfectly.

Recipe:
Cardstock: Autumn Terracotta, Chocolate, White Daisy (CTMH)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Autumn Terracotta (CTMH)
Stamps: Charlie Autumn, Autumn Blessings (CDS)
Other: Michaels Ribbon, Nesties, Cuttlebug Die, Fun Flock, Copics

***********************************************************************************************************************************
The next card also uses last month's release Autumn Blessings, but is paired with the sentiment that comes with Charlie Autumn. Its a wonderful phrase and perfect for that fall card. You can click on the card to make it uber big and then you might have to scroll to read the sentiment.

The tree and branches (Autumn Blessings) were colored in with watercolor pencils and then matted and attached using my sewing machine. The base mat for the card was run through my cuttlebug and then inked with some ink to match my card. I used a nestability die to cut my sentiment tag and while it was still in the die, I sponged it with ink.

Here is a picture of the inside where I just accented the edges with a leaf stamp from the Autumn Blessings set.

Recipe:
Cardstock: Autumn Terracotta, Taffy, Chocolate (CTMH)
Ink: Chocolate, Black (CTMH)
Stamps: Autumn Blessings, Charlie Autumn (CDS)
Other: Ribbon, Watercolor Pencils, Embossing Folder, Nestability Label Die

I hope you've enjoyed the previews and don't forget to come back again tomorrow for even more.

REMINDER... I am going to be having a Scavenger Hunt party here on my blog sponsored by Limelight Papercrafts next Saturday to celebrate World Card Making Day (WCMD) . Stay tuned for all the fun details!

The other DT Members will be hosting parties as well and Mandy, our lovely Limelight Queen herself will be hosting the mother of all games on her blog. Check out the details to her game HERE.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day.

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peak #1

Good morning and its a good one too! Today I have some Clear Dollar Stamps (CDS) previews for you. I have to honestly say I had a blast with all the stamps that I got to use, but today, I am giving you a look at one of my personal favorites just because it fits into my life right now which is parenting a young child in elementary school plus 2 more waiting int he wings.

I LOVE to give Hunter's teachers little thank you's and gifts throughout the year for holidays and teacher appreciation days. This set is PERFECT for that, either on cards or as tags on little gifts.

This first example is one of my favorites. The sentiment "My teacher has the "write" stuff!" and the pencil (all one stamp) is just one of 12 stamps from a set called Teacher Treats.

The phrase on the front of the jar is one that I just printed out and is the one cased from all the penny cups found everywhere.

The great thing too was the fact that I had the fun pencil paper. I don't know exactly how long I've had it, but its been a while. It was just perfect for this stamp. I made a coordinating card to go along with the pencil gift. The jar is an old jam jar that I had.

I colored in my pencil with my Copics and for the tag, I just stamped an extra pencil, colored it, cut it, and then pop dotted it over the original.

I really feel like this is a "real" and useful teacher gift.

**************************************************************************************************************************
This next card is another favorite (I'm warning you now that you'll read that a lot). This sentiment says "If teachers were apples. I'd pick you!

With this card, the focus of course is the apple. I used my Cricut die cut machine to cut out the apple and the polka dot background. Then accented the card with the great sentiment and stamped apple. This card has such a warm, fall feel to it. I LOVE how it turned out. I cut the apple out in 3 different colors and then pieced them together. The stamped apple was colored in with Copic Markers and is matted and framed with circle punches and a scallop punch. I also distressed the entire card with a nice soft warm brown chalk ink.

This is the perfect card for that perfect teacher.

*******************************************************************************************************************
This next stamp that I used was "mounds" of fun (hehe). No seriously, what a cute gift. I used my Scor-pal to make my nugget box (for 6) - the Mounds Bar fit perfectly inside. The sentiment is from the new release set, but the background stamp is from an older (but still available) CDS stamp set called Too Sweet. I used a label punch, a circle punch, and a scallop punch for my tag. You can find the Scor-pal directions for nugget boxes HERE.

***************************************************************************************************
Are you tired yet??? Here is my last preview project. Once again, another great sentiment. I made this little purse to house a little goodie bag of jolly ranchers. Can I say, too cute again. This particular project works great with all those little scraps you've got laying around.

Now get this. I didn't even begin to use all the stamps available in this set. Plus the price is perfect.
This stamp set will be available on October 1st for only $9.99.

Thanks for hanging in there with me and don't forget to come back tomorrow for even more samples and previews.

Clickabella says Hello and LOTS of info

Hello everyone!!! That's me at the computer (lol), not really, its actually Clickabella from Stamping Bella. She was getting all lonely 'cuz she hadn't seen daylight ever. By the way, I saw some great new Bellas on the website - uh oh. Back to Clickabella... I colored her in with my Copics and framed and matted her with my Nesties.

I'm back home and spinning in circles. There is so much to clean and put away - yuck. I really wanted to go down and create, but I ended up spinning my rutter down there too. I ended up doing nothing, but a bit of puttering and straightening.

No worries though, because I've got stuff planned for the end of the month anyway, which brings me to all my info...

FIRST... SNEAK PEAKS of stamps that will be available from Clear Dollar Stamps on October 1st will start showing up on all the DT members' blogs TOMORROW. You will LOVE them. So many cute sets and quite a variety of them. AND... welcome to all the new DT members. How exciting to get to know even more talented ladies. AND woo hoo, I get to stay on as well. I've had lots and lots of fun working with all the new releases and getting to know Lori (owner and more...) and Laurie (DT coordinater and more...) these past couple of months.

SECOND... World Card Making Day is on October 4th, which is next Saturday (a week from tomorrow). I want to get the news out early that Mandy from Limelight Papercrafts is going to be hosting a HUGE contest with LOTS of fabulous goodies to give away. Check out this LINK to get all the details. Also, keep an eye out for the DT members to be hosting their own celebration parties that day too - ME included.

I'll give a hint for my game - lots of fun, a great prize, easy to do... what else do you need. Don't worry, I'll remind you and the great part is that you'll have all day Saturday (a week from tomorrow) to play.

THIRD... As you know, I've been gone for the past week. I just posted some pictures of what I was up to (family stuff). If you are interested in checking it out, just click HERE. You'll be redirected to my family blog. I posted twice today so just scroll down.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow for those sneak peaks. Have a great day.

Have Rockin' Birthday and World Card Making Day

Hi all! We are headed home today. It will be so nice to get back to the norm. I wanted to share a little something today that has no stamping at all. Just super fun embellishments. Here is another computer generated card that Mandy sent me from Limelight Papercrafts. Here is Mandy's caption from the website:

Volume THREE in the Create a Card Series! This cd comes jam packed full of card templates, papers, accents. Everything you need to digitally create a card. You open a template and drag on the accents you want- then you PRINT! Your card will print out with cut and fold lines. It is now Amazingly EASY to print out those many thank you cards to Aunt Suzy. **Also included are 100 Ready to Print Cards! All Cd’s compatible with PC and Mac. Made for use with Adobe Photoshop or similar software program.

When Mandy sent me this card it was printed on cardstock and I did the folding, cutting, and embellishing. Sometimes, it is so much fun just to add the "wow" factor and still have a quick but fabulous card. You could also print two and cut extra elements to pop the card or even cut the card smaller. The choices are really limitless. You can find it HERE at Limelight.

Here is a close up of the Sparkle Fibers I added to the card. That stuff is really very cool. Well gotta run. Sorry about the different fonts (annoying) Have a great day!

Everything can be found at Limelight Papercrafts.

AND World Card Making Day is just around the corner. I'll have more details very soon, but I wanted to let you all know that Limelight Papercrafts will be hosting a fabulous online game as well as DT members including me. Lots of fun to be had and great prizes to be won - LOTS of prizes!!! Keep tuned...

The Perfect Dress

Well, as many of you know, I spent some time looking for a dress. In reality, it probably wasn't that much time, but it seemed like a long time because I always had to figure out what to do with the kids while I went out.

I am so jealous of you ladies or gents that can go out and find just what you want or at least find something that looks good. Man, I had the hardest time. Since I'm writing this before I left for San Diego I still don't have a dress. Everything I tried on just didn't fit or just looked bad. I don't visit the mall very often and there is a reason for it. Its funny because I could spend 2 hours perusing a scrapbook/scrap store, but spend 2 hours at the mall - NOT. I'm so not a girly girl, but deep down I wish I was.

So, this card is the girly girl in me that really does want to come out. I wish I had the figure that could wear this oh so cute dress and oh those heels... Remember, I live in the land of REI and Birkenstocks, with an occasional sock with sandal (LOL). If I wore such stylish shoes I would either a) end up with blisters, b) fall down and embarrass myself, c) complain about my aching feet for a week.

Anyway, this stamp is one that I've been coveting for a while and finally ordered. Its designed by Rupa Shevde and is called "Retro Boutique". You can find it at Gina K Designs. The entire set is just yummy.

Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day!

Happy Birthday ATS Style

Here is an image that I colored a while back and put together a bit ago. This stamp is a C.C. Designs from All That Scraps (It's my Party set). The happy birthday is a SU! stamp and the little cupcake is a Stampendous stamp.

I love combining my sets, it makes me feel like I'm getting more bang for the buck!

I colored him with my copics and grabbed some pretty paper from my stash. I do know its from a stack so its probably K&K Co. or DCWV.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget about the Limelight Papercrafts Sketch and Challenge contest! You've got until Sunday to post a card. Click HERE for all the details or just keep scrolling down.

Just an Extra Tidbit

Howdy folks. Blogger is being so weird. I had scheduled the post below - make sure to scroll down and get all details as to how you could win some gorgeous ribbon from Mandy at Limelight Papercrafts, and was trying to edit and the silly system would not let me do anything. Now, when I go to edit, it tells me its been "moved" and I can't seem to edit, but I guess I should be grateful that its still showing up on the blog.

Anyway, I'm headed out of town today and I am not taking one little itty bitty bit of anything stampy/scrappy. I will probably have internet service so I'll be able to browse and schedule some posts - I got all the cards ready to go :)

I suppose if a store just happens to jump out in front of me, I would be compelled to visit, but otherwise, it will be pretty quiet. We have plans to try to get to Sea World, the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park and even Lego Land, the beach and of course we have to do all the wedding stuff. The itinerary is always up for change though.

Ladies in the Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge

Good morning all! Its Thursday and time for another Ladies in the Limelight Sketch and Product Challenge. Here is the sketch and below are all the juicy details.

Here are the rules:
  • Sketch and Product Challenge with a focus on "ribbon". Even better if you use Limelight products, but no worries if you haven't purchased anything yet... Use from your stash!
  • The winning participant will receive 10 yards of fabulous ribbon from Limelight Papercrafts - Oh My. I'm jealous!
  • Entries are submitted by posting a comment and a link to the card or online gallery at Mandy's blog.
  • All entries must be submitted by Sunday,September 21st at midnight.
  • Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC004
Here is my example of the sketch. I meandered a bit, but Brandi's sketch sure got things rolling.

Thanks for coming by and the Ladies of Limelight would love it if you played along!! Check out the other DT member's blogs for inspiration.
