Some News and Party Time

Hi everyone! We are back from a quick trip down south to visit with family. I was hemming and hawing about going down, but of course I'm so glad that we went. It was good to see everyone even if it was only briefly.

Now for my news. I'm going to be starting a 6 month stint as a Design Team Member for Stamp Something Challenge Blog. I've been a fan of Denise and Erin and the the team from the very beginning. I remember when they first started and I have to admit that as soon as I found out that my friend Lauren Groppi was a member, I knew it had to be a great blog. I have tried to consistently play along with them as often as I could and now I will be playing every week. I just want to say thanks to Denise and Erin for asking me to join the team.

Secondly, its going to be party time tomorrow. Make sure you come back and get ready to play lots of games and help Mandy of Limelight Papercrafts celebrate the stores 1 year anniversary. I had a great time as Mandy's original Design Team member and am glad that I can help her celebrate.

Thirdly, get your wallet ready!!! All the June new release stamps at Clear Dollar Stamps are going to be available to purchase tomorrow morning - yahoo! I can't wait to see what else Lori has added to the store, plus the announcement for our Guest DT member.

Hope you have a fabulous night and I'll see you back first thing tomorrow!

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peeks #4

First things first!!! Oh my gosh... I was writing up my post and realized that I have made a huge omission in all my previous posts. Please, please go visit Linda Borneman and check out all her sneak peeks. I have no idea how I managed to omit her from my lists each day and I want to profusely sent my apologies to Linda, my good friend. Shame on me... you will be completely doing yourself a disservice if you don't go visit and leave her some love.

So I'll try to get it right today :) Good morning friends. Wow, its day four of sneak peaks and that means all the new release stamps will be available first thing tomorrow morning on June 1st, but before we get there, there are just a couple more stamp sets to take a peek at. You know the routine. Head on over to Lori's blog to see the full reveals and lots of Candy's fabulous creations. Here is the list of the last sets to be revealed: Pretty Perches and the June Stamp of the Month.

I'll be showing you two cards made with the Pretty Perches set. This set is a great one and I'm sure that you will love it just as much as I do. I attempted a different look for me, but I wanted something that was a bit more distressed and shabby looking. I'm not sure if I achieved the right look, but I like how the card turned out anyway. I inked up just about every edge that I could.

For my second card, I wanted a lighter springy look and I thought this paper from TaDa Creative Studios was perfect for it. Since I was going with a spring theme, I decided to use two additional sets to create my sentiment - Card Categories and Card Categories Too. I use these two sets quite frequently and love them.

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peek #3

Hi Everyone! Its day #3 of sneak peeks for June releases at Clear Dollar Stamps. Head on over to Clearly iStamp to see the full review of these following stamps:

  • Charlie Lean on Me
  • Sassy Scallops
  • Motorcycle Mania
The stamp set that I'll be sharing with you is Motorcycle Mania. This is another great stamp set that you can add to your collection of "manly stamps", but no worries since you can definitely "feminize" it as well.

Ok, I have a confession and its a deep, dark, ugly one and I really shouldn't share it with you, but I will. Read carefully...

When it comes to realistic and mechanicla types of images, I am at a loss as how to color them. So... what I did was stamp these images and have my husband color them for me (shhh... don't tell) oh wait, I just told so I guess its ok if you tell too.

Anyway, he was extrememly helpful and saved me :) For this card, I even followed his color scheme and is definitely more of a masculine card.

Now, my second card is the complete opposite with all the pink, but I actually know some cool biker babes.

I know this is quick, but I have to get busy, busy, busy. Make sure to go visit these other lovely ladies for lots more sneak peeks of today's stamps.

Friday, May 29, 2009

Good morning friends, its the 2nd day of Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peeks. For the full reveal of today's reveals go to Clearly iStamp. The stamp that I'm sharing with you is a new line of designs from Shawne. She has created the Patchpal animals and same coordinating sentiments and the cutie I'm featuring today is the Pig. These little guys remind me of those super loved animals that we used to have as kids.

My first card I used my Copics to color him in, but I still wanted a patchwork look to him so I took my Colorless Blender pen and created my own patchwork. If you look closely you can see that I created polka dots on the left side of his face and stripes on the right.

Then I also added some Flower Soft to the small flowers he's sitting. Did you know I love that stuff?? Lots of colors and even great starter kits are available at the store.

The sentiment is from a CDstamps set called Formal Sentiments which is another great all around set to have.

My second card is a shaped card that I cut using my Cricut Expression using the Wild Card Cartridge. The one nice thing is that you can get a much larger shaped card using the cricut.

For this card, I took the little pig and stamped him on a variety of different patterned paper, in this case Bitty Basics from Papertrey ink. Then I cut up the sections I wanted and created a different type of patchwork look, but before I did that, I took some sewing thread and did some stitching on the top layers.

I also added just a bit of stickles to the ears and the little flower for that extra bit of pizzaz.

So... for more eye candy of these stamps:

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peak #1 - June Rose

Good morning friends! Its that time again and Clear Dollar Stamps sneak peeks are once again in full bloom! I use the term full bloom because my sneak peek is of a stamp set called June Rose. This is another monthly flower stamp designed by Vicki Conquest. By the time its all said and done you will end up with a years bouquet of beautiful flowers.

I had a great time with this stamp set. This first card I titled "Classic Red Rose" Who doesn't love a true red rose? I used Copics to color in all my roses and then by the time I was done... there was no way I was covering up any of my long labor (lol). And yes, I will be totally honest here. It took a long time to color it all in.

Ribbon is some sheer stuff from Michaels and the tag is Nestabilities. The sentiment is from Charlie Daisy.

My next card also uses June Rose, but I went with a softer, more romantic look, but still tried to keep it pretty simple.

I stamped the image with Versamark and then used Gold Embossing powder to outline it. Then I used my Le Plume markers and a Waterbrush. There is a background stamp that I used too create the piece covered by the crocheted lace. Does it look familiar? Its the same stuff that I love so much, but this time, I used a coordinating Copic marker and colored parts of the lace. Finally I finished it off with an EK Success border punch.

The June Rose set isn't the only set being previewed and if you would like to see the sets being introduced today head on over to Clearly iStamp for the full reviews. Here is the list of the New Release stamps being previewed today:

  • Colonial Carvings
  • Happy 4th of July
  • God Bless America
  • June Rose
  • Rosebud Princess
  • Rosebud Scrolls

Mojo Monday and Stamp Out Alzheimers

Its me again, this time to share a card that I made for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I've been working on this post all day and just want to share my card, but I have one more plug to share. I donated a bit to Jen Tapler's Stamp out Alzheimers fund and as a thank you, you have access to a whole site with a variety of challenges and prizes. Lots of fun stuff if you are interested with just a nominal donation. Just $5 will give you entry.

I used American Crafts designer paper and picked up the colors from that for the rest of the card. The stamped image is a $1 stamp I just got the other day from Michaels. I had actually been looking at it for along time, but I finally just picked it up, plus I got to use my 20% coupon (lol). The background was stamped using a CTMH set called Decorative Dainties (C1309) using both CTMH and PTI Palette ink. Ribbon is stuff from Michaels too.

Well, its short, but that's it for now. Sneak peeks start tomorrow, so make sure to come on back.

Thanks as always for coming to visit.

Odds and Ends - FYI

Hi Everyone! Its a beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest... the sun is shining, but still a bit cool yet. No worries though, it will warm up :) I wanted to share a couple of things that are happening and going to happen soon with you.

First, would you like a chance to be a Guest Design Team member for Clear Dollar Stamps for next month (June)? If so, head on over to Clearly iStamp where Lori has all the details for you. You've got 4 1/2 days to strut your stuff!

Second, sneak peeks are starting tomorrow for all the fabulous new stamps that will be available first thing on June 1st at Clear Dollar.

Third, my friend Mandy who is the owner of Limelight Papercrafts will be celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the store starting the 1st of June. Keep you eyes peeled for great games/contests/and prizes!

Tool Chest for Dad

Hi y'all. I wish I could say that properly, but you know I never will :) I've got another box tutorial posted over at Clearly iStamp today. I have to say that it turned out super cute and now I just have to find the right gift to put inside for Father's Day from the boys.

I think this box is a cute size, but it would be super easy to do this same thing in a larger scale too. I love actually using up some of my supplies. You have no idea how long I've had this silver embossing powder.

So here are some pictures, and remember you can find all the details HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great Tuesday! School is back in and the holiday is over. I have to say that is was an absolutely fabulous weekend. We might be purchasing a new car to us today too. We sold our Volvo on Saturday (it went very quickly) and are now down to just one vehicle which just won't work for us. Don't worry, I'll keep you posted!

Scrap or Dare Color Challenge and an award (twice)

Hi Everyone. I said I would be back for one more post today and here it is. First I'd like to thank Amy Shultz and Monique for sending this super cute award my way. I'm a little slow in posting, but its here and I want to send out a big mwahh to both of you.

So, now on to my card. This is how it went... having gotten the award from Amy, I of course went to visit her blog and I found some beautiful Close to my Heart projects on her blog and a color challenge that she is calling Scrap or Dare Color Challenge.

I have to say that most of the color challenges that I follow tend to use Stampin Up colors and I have to "translate" to Close to my Heart colors, which isn't that hard, but this time around it was fun to just know which colors I was using as soon as I read the names.

Amy's choices were Chocolate, Ocean, Sweet Leaf and Colonial White. I decided to do some random stamping and I used 2 different stamp sets. The background was created using a set called Its a Party! The set has some great circles in it, but they were all together, so I very carefully cut the circles out so I could use them independently.

The cake image is from a set that won't be available until the end of summer. It is a Stamp of the Month so make sure you write it down on your notes. It is going to be a great general birthday/celebration/invitation set. I like how the card turned out.

And finally, my last element was created by using what we call a Connections Club rewards. This is a little goody that my customers receive after every $200 they spend retail. These rhinestones are so cool and are self adhesive. I do have to fess up and say that it was a bit tricky to get placed evenly. I had thought I would stamp first and then place the rhinestone border down, but it worked out much better to do it the reverse.

Anyway, that is it for me! Enjoy your Monday, Happy Memorial Day, and finally... Thanks to all our Service men and women who have and are serving to protect our country!

Stamp and Smiles Sketch

Hi everyone! Today I have another sketch for you to share. This one is from the Stamps and Smiles Sketch Challenge Blog called The Fresh Batch. I just found them earlier this month and Jennifer Meyer (owner) had tons and tons of blog candy for the new releases. I swear I did as many challenges, sketches, comments, etc and came up short - darn it! (LOL). The cupcake I used for this card is from a set called "Hello Spring". Lots of coordinating images to go along with this set.

Anyway, I colored her in with my Copics and used some super cute paper from American Crafts. I actually got this paper yesterday and got it to go with the American Crafts badges that I won in a previous blog candy, but when I pulled this stamp set, I decided to use it to match her little boots. Ribbon and matching colored cardstock is from Papertrey ink.

Well, that's it for me for now. I have one more color challenge card to share with you later today.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Papercraft Planet Clear Dollar Color Challenge and Stamp Somthing Sketch

Hi Everyone! It Sunday and yesterday was pretty fruitful. We rented a trailer and spend most of the day clearing out the garage (again), but its always nice to reorganize. I'm hoping that this will inspire me to use the treadmill that is out there. Now there is a clear and easy path to get to it.

Well, today's card serves two functions. I wanted to play along with the Clear Dollar Stamps Color Challenge over at Papercraft Planet this weekend. You still have most of today to play along if you have time. Cassie is our hostess this weekend and she picked some awesome colors for this one. They are essentially Red, Dark Blue, and Brown with a neutral as usual of course.

I decided to use a set called Horse Heritage and because I felt lazy and didn't want to color it in, I decided to emboss instead and sponge my colors basically using a color emerge technique. I just did a tutorial on it which you can find -->HERE<--. To be honest, I didn't know what it would look like, but I knew I wanted to incorporate my 3 colors on my main image. I was pretty pleased with the results. The sketch aspect of this card came from Stamp Something Blog. They are continuing to say their good-byes to some of their Design Team members. This week focused on Emily and she provided this great sketch. I turned the sketch and it worked out perfectly with the stamp set that I wanted to use.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you continue to enjoy your (hopefully) long weekend.

Gum in the dryer and a Card Sketch....

Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a nice holiday weekend. I guess its been a few days since I posted, but I've been busy cleaning out my dryer. I did a load of laundry the other day and (banging my head against the wall) I didn't check pockets and guess what?? An entire pack of gum was in Hunter's pocket and when I went to take the clothes out of the dryer the entire inside was covered. Take a look for yourself. This is just the back wall, but it looked like that throughout the whole dryer.

I had a couple of friends of mine suggest a site and on it there were several posts about using a wet dryer sheet to rub the gum off. It did work, but when you have to do an entire dryer it takes a while and some real hard elbow grease. Well thankfully, I now have a very clean dryer.

So now... on to the fun stuff. In between this and the rest of life, I did manage to pull off a card. I used a new stamp that I purchased from a little company called Stamps and Smiles. I just love these little cupcakes. The image I used for this card is called Carl and he completely reminds me of those 50's Campbell Soup people.

I colored him in with my Copics and tried to match up the colors to the paper (retired Stampin Up) I used. My goal was to create a boyish type of birthday card. My inspiration for the layout of this card was from week 2 of sketches from a site called Midnight Madness Sketch Challenges. Priscilla is a great hostess and has some great blog candy up for grabs for participating in the different challenges. Go check out all the fun details.

I also dusted off an old fiskars border punch to create the border. I wanted a border, just not too feminine :) I also had to tweak the bottom corner element from the sketch because I didn't want a standard bow, but I did want something so I created this pleated banner and then stamped my sentiment over that. I then took a glitter pen and went over the parts that didn't quite get stamped due to the folds. It worked out great and you can still read it!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend.

Just made it...

Hi again. I just made it with this card. I was browsing on my fellow Clear Dollar Stamps DT member Shawne's blog and ran across a new blog called Priscilla Styles. She has started challenges called Midnight Madness and as part of the introduction, their is a huge blog prize along with a great sketch. I had been meaning to do this sketch and things got in the way last night (aka hubby) and I put it off until today and luckily you have until midnight eastern time tonight to get it in. Sooo... here it is and I have to say that I love how it turned out!

I turned the sketch on its side and used my petite ovals to cut out my ovals. I also used some gorgeous Basic Grey paper (12x12) called Eva for the background. I accented with some Close to my Heart cardstock and used an old Stamp of the Month from Clear Dollar Stamps for my main image. I then added my sentiment using a Close to my Heart font set.

Finally, I finished it off with a Prima flower, PTI button, and some ribbon. My photo corners were created by cutting a square and then cutting on the diagonal and using an EK Success border punch on one end.

Thanks for taking a peek :) and if you are interested there is a new sketch for this next week too!

Emerging Color Cards

Hi Everyone! I have a couple of cards to share with you today. If you want to see a tutorial just head on over to Clearly iStamp and have a look see. All stamps used are from Clear Dollar.

It seems like I've been busy making cards... but not sure what I've been doing (lol). Actually, I have been finishing up my Clear Dollar Stamps sneak peeks that will be starting next week. Lots of fun stuff for that.

I'm also hoping to get a couple of challenges done too soon. As for this morning, the twins and I are headed to the last day of MOPS for the year. Other than that, life is life!

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Stamp Something Challenge

Hi everyone! Well, things are just fine in my household and life goes on. I want to thank everyone for their kind comments and messages. I really appreciate it a lot.

Today, we have another T-Ball game and I'm off to do a Close to my Heart party right afterward. It should be a fun day.

What was fun was doing this card. It is definitely Pretty in Pink (which I adored). I cased Lauren's Card as a farewell to her time on the Stamp Something Challenge Blog. Lauren has such a clean and elegant style and I never get tired of what she comes up with.

I used all PTI products as well because Lauren does such wonderful work with all that is Papertrey ink. I used the Hibiscus Burst for cardstock, ink, and the button. I accented with their vellum and the Spring Moss. The crochet flower is one that I made and of course the twine is from elsewhere. I used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder on my vellum and placed my adhesive under the matted swirls and flower. It really doesn't take much and the vellum stays in place perfectly. The set I used is called Remember and I'm borrowing it from a friend. I love my internet friends... you are all so wonderful!!! And finally, the sentiment was punched out using an EK Success oval punch and the scallop is from a SU! punch.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Crochet Flowers are Fun!

Hi Everyone! This is what I was working on over the weekend :) I was gifted this really pretty variegated embroidery floss by a friend and once I started making the flowers, I couldn't stop. I had to use up all the floss - it was a mission!

Anyway, I got them all made and I have to say that I used THIS pattern to make these. My friend Candy directed me to that website and I have to say that its by far the easiest pattern to follow and the results are great every time. I've searched around and found other patterns, but I just can't seem to get them right... just not crochet savvy enough.
I hope to have a card for you later today, but we'll see. I will direct you over to Lori's blog - Clearly iStamp where I have a tutorial for 3x3 cards and a cute little box to put them in. I think it turned out super cute!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Videos of the boys at T-Ball

Hi Everyone! I thought I would share these super cute videos of the boys at the 1st official T-Ball "game". The game consists of each team batting twice or three times. The kids went through the line-up twice and that took almost an hour.

The first 2 vidoes are of Nate hitting and then running to 2nd base. The last video is of Will hitting.

Happy Mother's Day Card

Happy Mother's Day to all those Moms out there :) I made this card for all of you! Besides being a Mother's Day card, I JUST HAD TO USE this new crocheted lace that Lori from Clear Dollar Stamps sent me. She will be having it at the store soon. I LOVE, LOVE, this stuff. Its really quite substantial and as you can see I cut it and it doesn't seem to want to fray at all.

I started this card off by looking at the Our Creative Corner (OCC) challenge blog sketch and loved the sketch, but there were certain elements that I had my heart set on using, such as that felt flower. It originally had a red felt flower on top, but I took that off and added the button and ribbon instead.

I did do a little bit of stamping though. The flourishes are from a CTMH set called none other than Playful Flourishes (lol) and the Happy Mother's Day sentiment is a single stamp that can be found at Clear Dollar Stamps.

I did change the card though... I started out with some pretty little Basic Grey brads up at the top, but it just didn't look write withe the button, so I added the extra lace to hide the holes that I punched and then added the button and then added the 3 buttons at the bottom. In the sketch, the 3 embellishments were supposed to be at the top.

The paper is Basic Grey Porcelain and it can also be found at Clear Dollar Stamps too. The buttons are no longer available, but they were a screaming deal at the store too.

*****************************************************************************************************
Here are a couple of pictures of the boys at their T-Ball game yesterday. The wonderful thing about my camera is that it can take some video, so I did capture some live action too. I'll try to post those later if I can. Down below is a picture of Nate at bat.

Now this is what they did for most of the game. Attention span of a 3 year old.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day no matter what your plans are.

Another Color Challenge featuring Papertrey ink

Hi Everyone! I just got my long awaited Guidelines 2 from Papertrey ink and decided to play around with it. Ironically, I ended up only using this set slightly and ended up using some other stamp sets instead. I also tried out the new Guidelines Grid Cardstock too. I'm still holding out judgment though and haven't really decided if I like it or not.

Along with playing wiht my new stamp and some new inks that came along with them, I decided to play along with Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge. I've been following her challenge ever since it started and am glad that I finally got to play. Her color choices are: Dark Grey, Medium Pink, Bright Pink, and White. The pinks I used are from Papertrey ink and the dark grey is a Close to my Heart color called Grey Wool.

I ended up making 2 cards using these colors. The 1st one reminds of Neapolitan ice cream minus the chocolate of course and I did use the Guidelines Cardstock, but ended up using a stamp set called Shapes by Design. The circles work great and I like the overlapping design.

This 2nd card was also just as much fun to make. I did use a stamp from Guidelines 2, but then added the outline stamp from Boxes, Bags and Tags. Then to get even more confusing, I used the little outline circles from Shapes by Design since I already had it out.

But, what I love THE MOST about this card is the ribbon. I adore this sparkly sheer ribbon from May Arts. I purchased a lot of it from Limelight Papercrafts. It is white and you can see it in its original form at the bottom of the card. It has a wonderful "twinkle" to it and May Arts does carry it in other colors, but really you wouldn't need it when it colors so well. I took enough length and then ran it over my Hibiscus Burst ink pad from Papertrey to get it this color. Check out the difference between the ribbon. The Palette ink is wonderful becuase it virtually dried instantly on this ribbon. You will get a pink finger unless you use gloves, but it is well worth it for the results.

Here is a closer picture of the ribbon and I think you can still see the awesome shimmer.

And finally, I added some small Kaisercraft pink pearls to the center of my circles.

Ok, that's it for me today. The boys have a T-Ball "game" at 2pm. This is their first "game" - lol, I have game in quotes since we are talking about 3 and 4 year olds. The twins last about 30 minutes of practice and they are good to go. Even 30 minutes is a long time for them. The games have an hour set out for them so we'll see how it goes. It will definitely be picture time.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day/weekend.
