Twins Turn Six

Hi All,

Just a quick note on the Twins and their birthday yesterday. The boys were excited for the day and had a fantastic time opening presents and cards. Thankfully the day was clear and sunny (although it was only 31 outside) so they were able to go out and ride their new bikes in front of the house for a while.

I want to say thank you for all the wonderful cards and gifts, it was great to open all the great cards!!

I'm going to sit down and work on the next of Katie's draft posts and see if I can't get it up in the next few days.  I know many of you have commented about how tough it must be for me to post these, but it is actually quite nice to be able to post these as I like going back and reading Katie's older posts.  It was sad to see the effect the drugs had on her and how foggy she was.  As the chemo went on and the oxicocodone use went up her writing got more and more disjointed and I had to step in and do quite a bit of editing; funny since both my spelling and punctuation suck! The draft was authored around Mothers Day, which came and went with Katie in a deep chemo fog.  We had just returned from Disneyland and she had chemo the Friday prior; she typed the post as she was coming back into the world.

Until then take care and thanks again for all the Twins cards!!

Kevin

I join with all the others thanking you for your continued posts. It is difficult to fathom how one can feel so connected to someone that you have never met, or even communicated with directly. But I (and I know many others as well) feel so close to Katie and your family, so it helps to still have some sort of contact.

I'm glad that the twins were able to have a good birthday.

Thank you so much, Kevin, for continuing Katie's blog and for going back to her old posts. She shared so much of her life with all of us thru her blog, so it really touches my heart that you are continuing to post. It is great to hear your boys had a good birthday and were able to enjoy their bikes. I know Katie was with them as they peddled around your house.
Thank you and Happy Birthday to all of you, as well as Happy Thanksgiving.

How wonderful the twins had such a great birthday! Wish I'd been able to get their cards in the mail on time...will be sending them out belated. I think I would feel like you do about posting Katie's unposted blog posts. Thank you for stepping in, Kevin, when Katie could no longer make her posts make sense.
Praying for you all,
Kathy

Oh Kevin, my heart goes out to you and your 2 boys. I am sure you missed Katie a lot on their 6th birthday. She would have loved to be there and celebrate with you all. I am so sad for you that she passed away. From what I got from her writing, she must have been such a beautiful person, with such a huge heart, so full of compassion and love for her family. I have never met her, but she and her family have a special place in my heart.
I pray that you will have time and energy and peace to grieve. But also to be able to switch to see the beauty of the days that is ahead of you!
His peace, Pauline

I feel bad that I have something I made for Katie here.. not a big deal really but I hadn't realized she had passed.. until I played "catch up" on reading the posts ..I had been checking back for awhile and hadn't seen any new updates so I just figured "oh she must be doing well and I can mail that "Tag" card I made her this week".. I will still mail it (I had been not feeling well myself so that is why I was delayed in mailing it) .. because perhaps you would like to have it. I'm so sorry for your loss and I do appreciate you continuing to post . I'm happy that in reading her old posts it helps you feel nice to be able to reflect on certain things.. and my best wishes go out to your adorable children..and the twins on their Birthday. So glad they had a fun day! All the best.. Mel
