Chemo #5 and more Thanks

Today's Shout Outs:

Donna McE, Sue P, and Jak

***********************************************

Dear friends,

I'm off to the infusion center.  I am here right at 8:00 am so I can get the prime chair and spot.  First, I'd like to thank Jak Heath for spear heading the fundraiser for me.  You should really go visit her and tell her how wonderful she is because she is.  Its a testament to her character and the type of woman she is that she was able to draw so many illustrators to my cause as well as people who donated.  Everyone got a wonderful gift for their donation and I hope everyone enjoys all those wonderful images.  Its an amazing testament to all of you as well that you are so willing to share yourselves with my family and me.

When I first got diagnosed, I began by telling my family and friends and Jak immediately responded to me about a fund raiser.  I had no idea what the end result would be and initially I told her we would be fine, but she really wanted to help and this was something she could do for me.  It literally started out with her telling me it would make her feel good to contribute something to my family whether it was enough to get something fun for the boys... there was no way of knowing the extent of the love and generosity of all of YOU.  She quickly contacted  Lori from Clear Dollar Stamps (since I designed for her) and Lori immediately got CDS illustrators past and present to donate their talent.  Then Jak got so many of her talented friends to join the fray as well.  All I can say is A M A Z I N G !!!

The money that you have raised allows me to be less anxious about our financial future due to the uncertainty of this future.  The unknowing can be stressful for me and having this nest egg just makes it less stressful since we have no idea how long this whole process will take. I'll be honest with you and tell you that I'm slow to use this money because I need that feeling of security to take care of the what ifs.

And finally, one more mention before I let this topic go.  I want to extend another huge THANK YOU to another wonderful woman in the craft industry.  I'm sure you've heard of her and have read the many articles that her reporters contribute to the Craft Critique on all things that are crafty.  I had the opportunity to write for her a couple of years ago and it was a blast.  When Sarah found about my diagnosis she also contacted me and wanted to add a donate fund raiser tab on her site.  Her site raised an additional $1000.00 for me and  this money was again from all of YOU.

I know I sound like a broken record, but there aren't enough words to adequately thank you for your kindness and generosity.  For all of you who are supporting me as followers, subscribers, card senders, who think of me and my family on a daily basis, and especially to those of you who have taken on my cause as your own, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Ok, so weird but I feel like I should walking up and taking an award... ok, back to reality here.

*******************************************************************************

So, my posts sometimes change or evolve as I write them.  My plan was just to share my card that I made for the chemo nurses at the infusion center.  The image I used is a Pure Innocence image, but its from the illustrator and is a digi at her Etsy store.  I think she is so cute.  The sentiment is from a Close to my Heart set and I hand cut the sentiment and frame by hand.  The pink background was colored with a can of air with my Copic Marker.  She is also colored with Copics and cut out.

That's it for me today.  I'll be out of it for a bit so as usual...

Until next time.

-Katie

It's the small things we can all do that build into the bigger things and it's so nice to be able to give other human beings peace of mind - think how many of us you have made feel good about ourselves! Ooops, that sounds a bit twisted. Jak is extraordinary but she won't take credit but we admire her greatly & tell her!
Loving the card - your mojo is on track. 'Nil Illegitimi Carborundum' - kinda, 'Don't let the chemo grind you down', kinda, lol.Hazel x

I can't imagine the worry that your diagnosis has put on you financially. I am totally a finance gal, and I panic about the finances on a regular basis. I am so thankful that you have that small nestegg to give you that cushion.

Your card is adorable, m'dear! Those little Pure Innocence gals make me smile, and I'm sure this card will do the same for your infusion nurses :D

I love your card, Katie! The coloring and the colors are so lovely. And I'm sure the nurses will be thrilled with it, too. Maybe you'll succeed in lighting a creative fire in them as well. More converts into the fold. :)

I'm so glad to hear that the fund raising has been a success and that you now have a little nest egg. Security is a wonderful thing in uncertain times.

I'll be sending extra, positive thoughts your way today - I hope chemo goes well.
Hugs,
Laurie

Katie, what a thoughtful card for your chemo nurses. I agree this little girl is a cutie! And I am so inspired by the generosity of everyone who gave and who are still giving in so many ways to your cause. Please know you are in my prayers too. And I am sure many who have donated would love to know you are having some fun with some of the donation money, even though you want to hang onto it for uncertain times.

Katie, I look at you and I see a daughter, in my mind and heart you have become my family.. my daughter.. I want to protect you, my sister.. I want to stand side by side with you, and yet, somehow you have become my guide as you lead us through this journey.

I am kind of "on the edge of my seat" so to speak, wondering what this round of chemo will bring, whatever it brings know that you have many holding you in our hears, but especially in our prayers.

OH, did not meant to write a book, but I did want to say that any gift we gave is a gift.. for your use or for your holding to.. and you have given us back more then we have given to you. God bless you, Katie

I'm so glad for Jak in your life and ours. I contacted her about a fundraiser. I was all "I'm not sure if anyone would want to.. blah blah" and she basically said "you're late to the party, it's already ON!". lol She's a great lady. She gave so many of us an opportunity to do for you when we weren't sure how.

Love and hugs,
Em

I've never ceased to be amazed at how wonderful the crafting folks are here in Blogland. I truly don't think there is a kinder, more thoughtful bunch in all of the world. I'm so glad so many have rallied to your side through this Katie. But just remember, kindness draws kindness. You would be doing the same things if it were not you in this situation. We all just want you to be well again. And I know I'll always be here until you have beaten this! Best to you and your sweet family. Curt

Great card, I'm sure the nurses will be well pleased with it. You are amazing, still thinking of others while you have all this going on with yourself.
Hang in there I'll be thinking of you over the next few days.
