A "time out" for my brain!

Dear friends, its 5:40am and I haven't been able to get back to sleep since about 5am.  I was tired last night and attempted to go to sleep and no luck.  I tried being relatively drug free but to no avail and did end up taking a drug called Lorazapam which is an anxiety/insomnia drug that should help with relaxation and yes I did fall asleep, but I tossed and turned all night.

So, what does this mean?  Well, overall physically I feel pretty good.  Yesterday was a good day and honestly I feel pretty good right at the moment.  I blame it on my psyche!  Today is Thursday and in my book, its a good Thursday because its not a chemo Thursday.   But, it is a Thursday and it also happens to be blood draw Thursday which again, isn't a bad thing really... each week between chemo sessions is a blood draw just too make sure everything looks normal as normal is.

I'm assuming that my brain is in overdrive just because I need to go to the Infusion Center.  That is really the only explanation for why I wouldn't get a good night's sleep... Damn you brain!  Our brains, so smart yet so dumb at the same time.

On the up side, and please don't tell the little ones... Kevin and I are hoping that blood draw is quick and we might be able to squeeze a quick trip to IHOP, their pancakes are quite decent before he needs to head off to work.

Until next time.

-Katie

Are you kidding me? IHOP is the bomb! Wait.. "da bomb"? Is that how the young kids are saying it nowadays? ;) Anyway, glad to hear of your positive outlook today. Not sure about WA, but down here in CA you'd think it was spring! We do need the rain (something I know much of WA can spare!)... have a wonderful day!

IHOP -- oh yeah -- nothing better than pancakes (or waffles). And the little ones shouldn't get mad - didn't they have a trip to Starbucks yesterday? Glad the fog has lifted and you are feeling good.

OK...compared to the chemo, blood draws wouldn't be so bad...I guess! LOL!! But if IHOP was in the plan afterwards - that would be a GREAT motivator for me ;0P Have a wonderful IHOP date w/ hubby! Thinkin' of ya!! xo

Hey there Katie...... did you make it to IHOP?? So I was thinking about your sleeping situation. There are some related energies in Chinese medicine that I think would be very helpful for you. You can email me anytime and I can kinda give you some basic manipulations .... it really does work and it is very clamming. Also lavender would be a great thing ..... I am going to see if I can find exactly what I am thinking of ..... it has to be a first pressed oil. Until next time....... I hope you have a fantastic day and feel wonderful all day. I am sending tons of cyber hugs and keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Mums the word on IHOP. Hope it was delish! Hope blood draw went well.

With my friends having chemo last year we learned that the brain gets foggy a lot due to chemo. They called it chemo brain. Those of us who know them also claimed it anytime we were foggy! I figure I HAD to have absorbed a few chemo cells in that friend chair. :)

Hope your brain fog clears up quickly. Hugs & prayers!

It's really nice to know that you are feeling good except for the sleeping part which I think you will get lots of later considering you have the blood draw and a trip to IHOP. Hope you had a nice time with your family.

Hello, Katie - I've been reading your story for a few weeks now and haven't commented, but your remark about "our brains" made me laugh and think back to a song from the '90s by Laurie Anderson called "Baby Doll". If you found it on the internet and listened to it, you may get a good laugh by the way she sings it, but here are the lyrics:

I don't know about your brain- but mine is really bossy I come home from a day on the golf course and I find all these messages scribbled on wrinkled up scraps of paper And they say thing like: Why don't you get a real job? Or: You and what army? Or: Get a horse. And then I hear this voice comin from the back of my head Uh huh (Whoa-ho) Yep! It's my brain again And when my brain talks to me, he says: Take me out to the ballgame Take me out to the park Take me to the movies Cause I love to sit in the dark Take me to Tahiti Cause I love to be hot And take me out on the town tonight Cause I know the new hot spot. He says: Babydoll! Ooo oo oo Babydoll Ooo He says: Babydoll! I love it when you come when I call Babydoll! You don't have to talk I know it all Babydoll! Ooo oo oo Babydoll Ooo Well I'm sitting around trying to write a letter I'm wracking my brains trying to think of another word for horse I ask my brain for some assistance. And he says: Huh...Let's see...How about cow? That's close. He says: Take me ou
t to the ballgame Take me out to the park Take me to the movies Cause I love to sit in the dark Take me to your leader And I say: Do you mean George? And he says: I just want to meet him And I say: Come on I mean I don't even know George! And he says: Babydoll! Ooo oo oo Babydoll Ooo He says: Babydoll! I love it when you come when I call Babydoll! You don't have to talk I know it all Babydoll! Ooo oo oo Babydoll Ooo Babydoll! Babydoll! Ooo oo oo Babydoll! Babydoll! Ooo oo oo Babydoll! Babydoll! Ooo oo oo

______Hang in there and include me among those thinking of you and your family_____sending prayers and positive thoughts your way.

I hope you had time for the pancakes! You sure deserve them! I'm so glad you are feeling better. Yes, our brains can play tricks on us and you say it in such a way we all can understand. Thanks! Big Hugs!!

LOL - They had no idea that you went to IHOP before you got back. So, unless you told them, they still don't know!! It's the little things - - - - - and I am glad you enjoyed your pancakes.
