You've got one last day to... Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peek Day 3

Well, if you haven't realized it, today is December 31st which means that tomorrow is January 1st, which means that many of you make New Year's resolutions and I bet one of them has to do with chocolate!

Well, don't forget that a little bit of chocolate is good for you - you know those anti-oxidants. Just remember to try and eat Dark Chocolate. Anyway, I'm previewing a yummy set that will be available tomorrow - Yippee!!! called Chocoholic. What a cute set and I'm telling you now, make sure to go check the other DT member's blogs because there are so many wonderful ideas using this set.

The first project I did with this set is a clear treat holder. I got a hold of some Clear Poly Sheets and really love them. They are described as being 10 mil but in my terms they are awesome. They are much thicker than a transparency but are still pliable enough to score.

And if you are curious, I just used plain old double sided tape so you can see it when its all empty, but when you have goodies in there - no worries.

I stamped my label and used my scallop punches to mat the image and then stamped one more time and cut out the center and attached with a pop dot.

My next little project is your average nugget box but again using the thicker Clear Poly Sheet. I hope that Lori will start stocking them at the store *wink wink* - are you reading Lori??

I created my own label design by punching a small circle and using it as my mask. I then used my polka dot stamp from Too Sweet for the background and then removed the circle and stamped my cake image. I colored that in with my Copics and then just wrapped around my Hershey Nugget Candy ( I used self adhesive address labels to stamp on). To finish it off I used that cool pink and brown ruffled ribbon. Its elastic too, plus its available at Clear Dollar.

And finally, I made a fun pink and brown card with this stamp set. I don't know for sure how hot pink and brown are, but in my book they will always be a go to combo. You just can't go wrong.

I created my background by stamping with two of the stamps available in this set and then colored them in with my Copics. For the flower, I punched a scallop circle and then snipped in between each scallop and then topped it off with a paper flower. The sentiment just finishes this card off - how appropo!

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful and safe New Years Eve! We are headed down south to visit with family since we missed it for Christmas. I have one more post of some cards that I made with one more stamp set for tomorrow.

Clear Dollar Stamps Freebie Sneak Peek

Hey, did I get you with the word Freebie :) Well, today's samples are of January Stamp of the Month called Spring Trimmings. This set is FREE when you purchase a minimum of $50 at Clear Dollar Stamps. There is a lot of punch with this little set though.

My first card focus on a "spring" look with the dragon flies and wicker basket. How cute are they? I used very cheery colors for this card, but I was just thinking that the little basket would look so cute on a picnic invite card either for the whole family or just one on one... hmmm... what do you think?

Anyway, back to my card right now. I stamped all my dragon flies with Memento Tuxedo Black ink to create my background. I colored them in with a variety of colors from my set of Copic Atyou Spica Glitter Pens. I LOVE these and use them ALL the time. They work perfectly for those little tiny spaces plus add just the right amount of sparkle.

I then stamped the basket and colored it in with a C0pic marker, stamped my flowers and finally stamped one more basket onto chocolate cardstock and used pop dots to attach it.

I used my oval nestabilities to frame and mat my image. I again used my glitter pens to color in my flowers.

And finally, I added some small Prima flowers and accented them with some rhinestones.

I stamped my sentiment and used my Signo White Gel Pen for the little dot accents.

{Recipe} Cardstock: Sweet Leaf, White, Hollyhock, Chocolate(CTMH) Ink: memento tuxedo black, chocolate Stamps: January 2009 stamp of the month Other: Oval Nesties, Prima flowers, Hero Arts rhinestones, white gel pen, Spica Glitter Pens

My next sample is a card, but its small and my purpose for it is to attach it to some goodies I plan on giving my hubby. As most of you know, we are both avid latte drinkers (vanilla for me) and I thought he would enjoy some chocolate covered espresso beans.

I created my scallop card by cutting it out with a square scallop nestablity. All you have to do is start with a prefolded card and then line one side of the scallops so it hangs over the folded edge ever so slightly.

I then used the next size scallop down to cut my mat and then just a square piece to stamp my little hearts on. And of course that cup of coffee is just perfect in the round frame. I love the little heart right on the cup. I colored my cup and coffee with some Copic Markers.

Maybe it will clear things up for you or maybe you can add a tidbit of information from your own experience.

Clear Dollar Stamps - Sneak Peek #2

Good morning! Let me start by telling you I'm quite excited that I got some scrapbooking done! I'm so far behind, but it still feels good to get a little bit done. I'll try to share those at a later date.

Like I said yesterday, there are a lot of new release sets for January at Clear Dollar Stamps that you will just love. My first card is actually a combination of 2 new sets as well as an old set. The skunk is an image from an old (one of my faves too) called Cute Critters. I stamped my skunk with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored her in with my Copics. The background stamp is a long floral stamp called Tender Heart Swirls that is a new release. I stamped in Black Memento and again colored in with Copics.

And finally, my sentiment ANNNIVERSARY Blessings is a combination of new and old. The word "ANNIVERSARY" is from a set called Card Categories and the word Blessings is part of a new release called Card Categories Too. This is a great add on set to the first set and allows for limitless sentiment combinations as well as getting yourself organized.

My next card lends itself to a Valentines theme and I again used the soon to be released Tender Heart Swirls for my background, but this time I left it in black and stamped the entire background.

My heart was cut using my Cricut Expressions - one layer using cereal box and the top layer of cardstock. I then applied red stickles to the entire surface. When the stickles dried, there were a couple of unintentional air bubbles in it so I ran it through my crimper and that did the trick. I then used some black tulle that I got from Limelight Papercrafts. The cute bling I got a bit ago from Clear Dollar and fit perfectly with this card.

Here's a close up of my stickled and crimped heart. Even though it hadn't been my intention to crimp, I did like the affect after all.

My final card example falls into the sweet category. I went with all pink, how can you go wrong with that? Even though its pink, I made it as a thank you card. The little charm is from Michael's bridal section. If you don't shop in that area, you should. There are a lot of little embellishments that would work really well with your papercrafting.

Well, that is it for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with even more!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Its Sneaky Peaky Time... Clear Dollar Stamps Day 1

Hi everyone! I'm so glad that I can start sharing some of my Clear Dollar Stamps (CDstamps) projects with you. As you know (gasp), January is just around the corner and CDStamps will be releasing a bunch of super, uber, duper cute sets! I seriously had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to share with you first, but here it is.

I'm focusing on a sentiment set that is called Thoughtful Notes. This set is just one of those must haves that will compliment a ton of other single and larger Clear Dollar stamp sets that you may or will want to add to your collection!

This first card is one that I had a fun time creating - its just so bright and cheery and fun! No other stamping except for the sentiment - "I should probably just button it up..." Well, fortunately, or unfortunately for you I won't (hehe).

How perfect is that cuttlebug folder. I love those buttons and have actually used that particular folder on multiple occasions. It is a thin folder that is part of a set and you can find it right at Clear Dollar too. The buttons are from Basic Grey Wassail collection and just happened to work perfectly with the America Crafts (I think) paper.

My next card is another fave of mine. I used Harriet Hippo as my focus and then added a cute little sentiment from the new set. I also incorporated a challenge that Laurie (DT Leader) charged us with - 3-D baby!!! I used (again) some more Basic Grey paper, this time Off Beat and used it all over the place. I stamped little Harriet onto the cardstock 3 times, put down the 1st layer, cut the next layer minus the hind legs and used pop dots to attache my 2nd layer, and then cut my 3rd image (head only) and again used pop dots to attach this last layer. This technique is actually called Paper Toile and is a really fun way to add dimension.

Here is a close up of Harriet. I forgot to mention that I actually stamped her first on the white cardstock so I wouldn't have to cut her tail. I am also going to say that Harriet looks very boyish for this card too (lol)!

Make sure to visit the sites of all the other Design Team members because they are sure to have some incredibly awesome projects. It is just as exciting for me to go blog hopping and get all nitty gritty details. Their links are just to the right - not too much traveling (lol).

I'll have more fun cards and projects to share with you tomorrow so come on back. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

One last Treat - Candied Citrus Peel

Good morning! I wanted to share one last Holiday treat that I make every year. To be honest, this tends to be a favorite of the "older" crowd, but I will say that my 9 year old truly enjoys nibbling on these. My MIL says she really enjoys eating them while drinking her tea.

The 3 year olds aren't fans yet, but I'm sure seeing them every year they will come to at least appreciate if not love them.

I always make them the same way, but there are varieties on the recipe. Again, I always sugar them, but they would be just as yummy and pretty dipped in some chocolate too. My recipe is a Martha Stewart recipe that I copied years ago. I have no idea if its in the archives or not. You can also use any Citrus peels, but I honestly feel that Orange Rinds taste the best.

Ingredients

  • 8 navel oranges (or any citrus fruit)
  • 7 cups sugar
  • 2 T light corn syrup
  • 1 T grenadine (if I have it I use it, but I don't really can't see or taste the difference from year to year)
  1. Slice oranges in half, place in 8-quart stockpot; fill pot with enough water to cover oranges. cover surface of water directly with a piece of parchment paper cut to same size diameter as the stockpot. bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours.
  2. Remove oranges; place upside down on a wire rack to drain. Reserve parchment round. When cool enough to handle, scoop out flesh with a spoon (do not puncture orange skin). Discard flesh. Cut orange rinds in half, then cut lengthwise into 1/4" inch strips
  3. Combine 5 cups sugar, corn syrup, grenadine, and 2 2/3 cups water in the stockpot; bring to boil over medium-hi heat, using a wet pastry brush to incorporate sugar crystals that form on side of pot. Add orange strips; reduce heat. Cover with reserved parchment round, and simmer for 2 hours, occasionally turning gently. Turn off heat; let cool in syrup until translucent, about 1 hour. Using a slotted spoon, remove orange strips from syrup. Spread on a wire rack placed over a baking sheet. Let dry for 30 minutes.
  4. Place remaining 2 cups sugar in a medium shallow bowl. Working with 2 to 3 candied strips at a time, place in sugar and toss to entirely coat. Return sugared strips to wire rack to dry for 1 hour. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
This year, I did this in stages. I boiled the peel, let cool, and sliced and then I did the 2nd round the next morning. Its a bit time consuming but easy and well worth the effort.

Thanks for stopping by and MAKE SURE to come back tomorrow. I'm going to start all my Sneak Peeks for Clear Dollar Stamps January Releases. You are going to love them ALL!!!

Oh one more thing to mention too. Clear Dollar Stamps has a new gallery up too. I put it up on my side bar, but forgot to actually mention it in a post. All the DT's projects using the new stamps from December and all future stamp sets are all housed HERE together. So make sure to take a visit for some incredible inspiration!

Some Blog Candy on this Christmas Day

Well as suspected, the morning whizzed by and what can you expect when the little and older ones are awake BEFORE the crack of done. So, the oldest went out to go sledding (we have a white Christmas) and the little ones and me are just hanging at the house and I got a chance to some blurfing.

I wanted to share some blog candy with you. Kath over at All That Glitter has some great candy up for grabs. Remember, you can't win if you don't visit and leave a comment. The only other thing you have do is post on your own blog too. Go check it out! Click -->HERE<-- for the blog candy link.

Here's one more. If you haven't hear of Spiral Whisper you should go check out their stamps. They are an European stamp company but have the cutest images! They are having a new release in January with some really, really, cute boyish images. You all know how hard it is to find really cute boy images. Check out the blog candy -->HERE<--

Thanks to Tracey for linking these so I could find them too :)

If I find any more, I'll post too.

Merry Christmas

Here is my Christmas card to everyone! For you die hards, I used Clear Dollar Stamps for outside and in, inked with Versamark and then used gold embossing powder.

Have a very happy day whatever you may be doing!

You Rock

Well, I finally got to my post today (lol). The snow is beginning to melt although there still may be a chance for a little bit of snow tomorrow.

I know that Christmas isn't over yet, but you know whats coming next don't you? Yup, all those thank you cards. I will probably make a bunch that are really similar, but here's one that I've been working on with a new, soon to available stamp set from Close to my Heart called You Rock. I love January because it brings a whole bunch of new product and there is always some great stuff.

I thought this set would be perfect for that glitter rock paper pad from DCWV, but since I don't have that I used what I had (yeah!). I did end up using some glittery paper from another DCWV paper pad that I'm slowly whittling away at.

I love that splattery stamp too - it made a great background. The lace edge was created by my favorite Martha Stewart edge punch and then just pop dotted my sentiments.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Christmas Eve!

{Recipe}

Cardstock: White, Hollyhock, Leaf Green (CTMH)
DP: Die Cuts With a View (DCWV)
Ink: Leaf Green (CTMH)
Stamps: You Rock (CTMH) - available in Jan.

Snow, cookies, pajamas, a card - lots of pictures

Hi everyone! I finally have some pictures to share wit you. As most of you know we (Pacific Northwest) have gotten quite a bit of snow and cold weather. This is very unusual for us, but it has been lots of fun. Kevin finally found some sleds yesterday - there were none to be had in town. He found them south of us where he works.

Here are a couple of pictures of the boys from yesterday having fun in the snow.

This is Will eating the snow, but the next picture is actually of Nate with the snow on his mouth. They were both eating the snow.

Finally, here is a picture of our Winter Wonderland and Hunter.

******************************************************************************************************************

I've also been doing another round of sugar cookies. I used a different snowflake cutter for these and they are large cookies. If you are interested in the recipe click -->HERE<-- They are my absolute favorite. I haven't made any other cookies this year. I really haven't been very inspired. I placed them into some spare cellophane bags that I have had for years - I'll be super sad when I run out which will be soon. The tags were made with a circle and scallop punch and the snowflake stamp came from a huge Christmas stamp set that I got as a gift a couple of years ago and the sentimetn is from Papertrey ink's Mixed Messages.

{Recipe}

Cardstock: White, Dutch Blue (CTMH) Ink: Heavenly Blue, Ocean (CTMH) Stamps: Michaels, Mixed messages (Papertrey ink) Other: Circle and Scallop Punch, Ribbon from Dollar Tree

********************************************************************************************************* The other thing I've been working on are pajamas for the boys or specifically bottoms for Hunter and the whole thing for the twins. Hunter is getting to big for me to make the tops and he's good with just bottoms. I've had some of this fabric for over 3 years and some of it is 2 years old. I had to compensate becuase the amount that I purchased years ago isn't what I needed right now.

I will end up with the twins getting full sets of the reindeer fabric, and one will have button bottoms and the other will have the ski bottoms, and Hunter ended up with bottoms of the buttons and the skier. Not too bad at all.

**********************************************************************************************************

And finally, a card to share. I ran out of the Christmas cards that I had made earlier and needed to make some more. I did a dozen more of these because they were super fast and super simple and relatively flat - just a few pop dots.

I used 2 stamp sets from Close to My Heart - Evergreen and Jingle Borders. The paper is also CTMH.

And if you are wondering, I purposely did not get full coverage ink on my stamp. I often like that look rather than having every single inch be perfectly rendered.

{Recipe}

Cardstock: Vintage Cream (Papertrey ink)
Designer Paper: Everlasting Level 2 (Close to my Heart)
Ink: Olive, Cranberry (CTMH)
Stamps: Evergreen, Jingle Borders (CTMH)

Thanks for stopping by and visiting. I hope you are having a great day!

What's on your Limelight List?

Good morning! I don't have eye candy to share yet this morning, but I do have some cool shopping news for you... but first... what have I been doing all weekend? Snow, snow, snow, sewing, a little bit of knitting, and a little bit of baking. I was very bad and didn't get any of my packages off until today - keep your fingers crossed that my packages arrive by Wednesday and don't even get me started on the card thing. There are so many people I wanted to send cards out to and all I have to say is maybe I can whip a few more today to send out. Hanging head in shame...

So, for the good news though!!! If you have a long list of goodies that you wanted to treat yourself to and just couldn't decide which should go the top, cease your worrying! Mandy is having a flat 20% off everything at Limelight Papercrafts, so just load up and when you're done use code
XmasGift (all one word).

Hope to be back later...

Hip Hop Hangover

Hi everyone! I did my first Unity Hip Hop yesterday. I had read about it on other blogs, but just hadn't gotten the chance to play along, until yesterday. It was fun and there was definitely a lot of freebies - way generous for sure.

One of the events were two card challenges hosted by Jeanne Streiff - Inky Paws. Both were fun and luckily I had a chance to finish both.

The first one was called "Don't Distress - Distress" and if you didn't' guess it the main theme was to distress somehow. I decided to go the easy route and distress with a little bit of chalk ink and then take my edge distresser and rough up my cardstock. I used a Unity stamp called Sleigh Ride and added a Hero Arts sentiment to it. I used my Copics to color my image and added some Kaisercraft pearls to my card. I ended up keeping this card very simple. I love seeing the Kraft paper.

A big nod to my stamping friend Becky who let me borrow that stamp from Unity :)

The 2nd challenge was called Christmas Pie Color Challenge. The pie I picked was Pumpkin Pie. I know its more of a Thanksgiving Pie, but I like to eat it through the entire holiday season. I used the stamp set Luke 2:14 Glorius Angel. I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored her in with some copics and accented with Copic Spica Atyou Glitter Pens. I also embossed my paper and then painted all of it with some Shimmerz. I also painted the dress with the Shimmerz too.

Here's a close up to try and show you the shimmer a bit better.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Limelight 6 Chicks Thursday Sketch and Product Challenge

Howdy everybody! Its that time again and if you were thinking that it didn't seem all that long ago since the last sketch and product challenge then go with your gut, 'cuz you are right. We are having this one a bit early due to the holidays.

Here are the dirty details:

  • Sketch and Product Challenge theme - Use your favorite Patterned Paper
  • If you happen to have Limelight goods - Awesome! But IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT. Geesh we all have a lot, so just use what ya got, join the fun, and play along.
  • The winning participant will receive their choice of any type of glitter that is offered at Limelight.
  • Entries are submitted by posting a comment and a link to the card or online gallery on Mandy's blog.
  • All entries must be submitted by Sunday, December 22nd by midnight.
  • Uploads to SCS should have the keyword: LLPC0011
  • PRIZE - A brand new Basic Grey Bittersweet 6x6 paper pad. Mandy will ship it out to the winner as soon as they arrive at the store!
Here is my take on the sketch. Brandi, I have to say that this was another sketch that I just love. It is so easy to put together! I used some of my left over Pink Paislee (Christmas) paper, but if you notice, it definitely isn't a Christmas card. I paired it with a Unity inspirational stamp - Creating Yourself - and boom the card was done.

Make sure you check out the other fabo ladies for some eye candy and/or inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Some of my Favorite Things

Hello to you. I finally got my tree up and decorated and I was sitting here looking at it and just loving it. We picked out a smallish tree, but it fits the house and space and all our ornaments and I have just been so pleased with it.

Anyway, I thought I would share some of my favorite old and new ornaments with you. I personally prefer white lights, but ever since the kiddo was allowed to make the Christmas tree light choice he picks colored every year so we have colored.

This first picture is of a bird that Kevin brought with him via his Mom. What is the history Ann? I just know that it is older... Anyway, we have a handful of these little birdies on clips that we attach to the tree. They are pretty heavy so they have to be clipped onto the sturdier branches.

This next one is one that my sister sent to me when the twins were born. I think its so cute with all our names on it.

This one is a sea shell of course and I purchased it when Hunter was 10 months old and were down in Morro Bay. There used to be a family house in the right on the water. The sea shell is all super glittery.

This one is one that I've had since I was a little girl. I don't remember who, why, where I got it, but I took it with me when I left home and put on my tree every year.

This one was given to me by a friend for Nate and Will. It is just the cutest. There is only one so I get to keep it forever.

This one is a Hallmark ornament, I'm sure many of you have this one too. It was purchased when Hunter was born. I have 2 so he does get to take one when he leaves home.

And this little guy represents ornaments that I like to pick up for myself whenever I get a chance which hasn't been too often. I love the fragile glass white ornaments. I like to pick out Snowmen, houses/churches, and Santa's.

There is also a glass icicle next to him that we've had for years and years now too. Kevin's mom gave us several packages of the glass icicles and again we put them on the tree every year.

And finally, the very first time I saw this birdhouse template on Nichole Heady's blog I fell in love. I have always had a love for things small or miniature. Way back when, I used to buy the antique dollhouse furniture kits and put them together, stain them, varnish, etc. A while back I purged and got rid of most of my miniatures, but I still love looking at them. The little birdhouses remind of them.

I also made a bunch of these for my craft fair and was shocked that they weren't popular. I think they fit perfectly with my tree. Next year, I will add some chunkier glitter and "snow" to them.

And finally, one more paper crafted ornament to share. This is really a sneak peek (if you are still reading) of the project I'm critiquing on Craft Critique in the next day or so.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of my tree and have a wonderful day.
