Better...

************************************************

Dear friends,

Yay, I am feeling better today, much, much better.  I know I've said it before but I guess I just don't want to believe it.  Chemo effects are cumulative and in my case that is apparently the very truth.  I know this, but the reality of knowing that it will be taking me 8 days to recuperate from treatment is a harsh reality.  My two week incremental life sections seem to be getting smaller and smaller.  What I need to do is work on figuring out how to get more of me back by one means or another and I'm sure that will be a process too and will take time as well, but I will get there.

As I mentioned yesterday or the day before, I really did feel awful.  The only silver lining in any of it was that I did shed 6 pounds last week.  I have the extra to shed, but I feel for those individuals who don't have the reserves for weight loss.

I love my oncologist and that is no lie.  He fit me in yesterday and he suggested having another brain MRI done due to my added symptoms along with the extra nausea.  I had that MRI done yesterday as well and he let us know the results last night and yes, I do have something in this head of mine and yes, it does look normal.

I was talking to Kevin about this new relationship that I have with a doctor figure.  Up to this point, I rarely saw a doctor and half the time if I did it was whichever one was on call.  Even when I did see my old doctor (since December I switched primary doctors), I really felt like he was just a stranger.

It's completely different with my oncologist.  In a way, I feel like he has my life in his hands and it's an interesting feeling.  I know he chose his profession and I can only assume that he has a great personal life, but you can't be in his profession without spending a lot of time thinking and caring for one's patients.  He has been there every time I've asked a question or haven't felt well.  I feel beholden to him and in all honesty I'll be seeing him until I'm in remission and beyond or dead...it's an interesting thought.

Anyway, just something to think about and another reminder that you MUST respect and even like your care providers.

So, I do have a card to share with you too.  I haven't crafted for over a week, but I did create some things during my last good period.  I really liked this set from PaperSmooches and created a birthday card for my stash.

Thank you all for all visiting and your words of support!

Until next time.

Katie

Katie, I 'm so glad you are feeling much better. I can only imagine how difficult 8 days recuperation each time must be. I'm very happy to see you creating and enjoying it. Your card is adorable. Love the sentiment! We can all use a "Happy Barkday".

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I am sad it is only for a short while but I know from what you have said that it seems to be shrinking the dreaded cancer, so that is good.

Oh, Katie, I am SO glad you had a better day today. I'm also glad there is NORMAL stuff in your head! That is such a relief.

Your card is very cute. I have to confess, though, after your post yesterday, I at first thought it said, "Happy Barf-day!" I am a dork!

Praying still.

Not sure what or if your doctor has you on anything for nausea or what kind of medical you have but if you have good perscription coverage you might want to ask about zofran they normaly have you try other things (that are alot cheaper and dont work as well ) because this can be over 1000 for each RX BUT with my medical it was only $7.00 and Without medical costco has it for $33.00 but most doctors dont know you can find it so cheap so wont even offer it , hope it helps

Wow from your last post to this post, it is certainly a depiction of the roller coaster ride you are on. Such ups and downs, but you handle them with such dignity. You are certainly a champion. Love your card Katie. Any card with a dog on it is one of my favs. This is really cute! Best, Curt

So happy to hear that you have such a good relationship with your oncologist. My daughter was diagnosed with melanoma two years ago and formed a bond with her oncologist as well. It's important to like and trust the person who has your well being in his/her hands and to know that they will be there to answer your questions and try to calm your fears. Best to you, Katie. P.S. Love the card - adorable!
