Gum in the dryer and a Card Sketch....

Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a nice holiday weekend. I guess its been a few days since I posted, but I've been busy cleaning out my dryer. I did a load of laundry the other day and (banging my head against the wall) I didn't check pockets and guess what?? An entire pack of gum was in Hunter's pocket and when I went to take the clothes out of the dryer the entire inside was covered. Take a look for yourself. This is just the back wall, but it looked like that throughout the whole dryer.

I had a couple of friends of mine suggest a site and on it there were several posts about using a wet dryer sheet to rub the gum off. It did work, but when you have to do an entire dryer it takes a while and some real hard elbow grease. Well thankfully, I now have a very clean dryer.

So now... on to the fun stuff. In between this and the rest of life, I did manage to pull off a card. I used a new stamp that I purchased from a little company called Stamps and Smiles. I just love these little cupcakes. The image I used for this card is called Carl and he completely reminds me of those 50's Campbell Soup people.

I colored him in with my Copics and tried to match up the colors to the paper (retired Stampin Up) I used. My goal was to create a boyish type of birthday card. My inspiration for the layout of this card was from week 2 of sketches from a site called Midnight Madness Sketch Challenges. Priscilla is a great hostess and has some great blog candy up for grabs for participating in the different challenges. Go check out all the fun details.

I also dusted off an old fiskars border punch to create the border. I wanted a border, just not too feminine :) I also had to tweak the bottom corner element from the sketch because I didn't want a standard bow, but I did want something so I created this pleated banner and then stamped my sentiment over that. I then took a glitter pen and went over the parts that didn't quite get stamped due to the folds. It worked out great and you can still read it!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend.

oh Katie...that just bites about your dryer. I had that happen with a load of dress shirts and a permanent marker. Expensive mistake for sure.
Great card...I need to dig out all my border punches too! This looks great on your card!

So sorry about your dryer. The worst I had so far is shredded tissue in the washer... What a cute card though! Thanks for playing along with us! :)

Thanks for the tip of how to get gum out of the dryer! Glad you got that all cleaned... such a cute card, like how you layered the paper under the sentiment.

Dryer story makes me cringe. We have had so many similar stories to share! This card, however, is completely adorable. I seriously love this image!! Great job!
