Happy Voting Day and More

In celebration of the US's Election Day, I decided to make a card to share with you all. I chose to follow (for the most part) Lauren Meader's Saturday sketch to create my card. Unfortunately, I didn't have any flag stamps so the first person I thought of was my very good friend Becky and sure enough she had a bunch to choose from. I chose an American Art Stamp from her collection and paired it with some Close to my Heart papers that I have.

As soon as I saw the layout, I knew how I wanted to attach my sentiment. I don't have the exact link for the specific example that I saw, but it was on Debbie Olson's blog that I first saw this method of attaching the letters. I stamped my letters and then snipped between the letters, just leaving a little bit attached which allows the paper to curve.

{Recipe} Cardstock: White, Indian Corn Blue (CTMH) DP: Blue Ribbon Level 2 (CTMH) Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Black (CTMH) Stamps: American Art Co, Sans Alphabet (CTMH) Other: CTMH Brads, Oval Nesties, Copics

I also want to thank my blogging friend Desire at Doing Life for sending this award my way. If you haven't been to visit her blog you should run on over. She does it all - gorgeous layouts, beautiful cards, wonderful 3-D projects, breathtaking photos, and lots of other fun stuff.

The RULES for presenting this sought after Award are:

Pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what the language.

Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog. Each award winner (upon acceptance) should show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award.

Link to the Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award and show these rules.

Here are my 5:

Mandy over at Limelight Papercrafts because she has a great store and always has great projects to share

Laurie at Clearly Delightful because she is an awesome papercrafter as well as a great stamp designer.

Linda at My Little Yellow House because she is the queen of detail, both in her art as well as in her blogging.

Lauren at Groppi Girls who has such a strong and distinct style all her own, which is always just amazing.

Brandi at Barely Banana Days because she makes wonderful layouts as well as gorgeous cards and everything in between.

If you are any one of these ladies and come visit then please take your awards if you would like. I'm leaving it up to you :)

Thanks for coming by and go vote!!!

Hi Katie,
I never thought about a voting day card before-so clever.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Once it's all over and you feel better, you'll realize you'll never be the same. It's a very life changing experience.

I had to go through chemo 5 years ago for breast cancer. It seemed like everyone I talked to either had had breast cancer before, or knew someone who had.

I sure do love your artistry with your cards. You are definitely an inspiration with your creativity and your positive outlook regarding your cancer.

Take care.
