Hospice House

Hi,

Unfortunately it is Kevin again...

Today was a day marked by uncontrolled pain and hallucinations thought to be caused by the morphine. Katie's condition continues to degrade and I had to make the decision to bring Katie to the Hospice House today. We have a goal to get her pain and vomiting under control then return home in a couple of days.

Sorry for a short and poorly written post but I do need some sleep.

Take care,
K

Please pardon the inquiry, but have you been offered the Fentanyl patch for pain? It is considered much more powerful than morphine...

oh my goodness Kevin....you need to give yourself credit for all you are and all you do and you can not continue to do so without rest....you need it and it is ok to have a break in order to be able to keep going. Hallucinations are common with so much pain meds but can be pretty scary for the caretakers who are experiencing it.....wanting to understand and wanting loved ones to be able to communicate clearly so there are not any missed moments...Keep strong, rested and you will be able to get through the next hurdle. Hoping that Katie's pain and vomiting gets controlled soon so that she can come home soon. sleep well, Kevin
Blessings to you and your family...

My heart has been so heavy from the first moment I learned of Katie's cancer as it was just two years ago that I worked with Katie in the MOPS program. Often we were the two that would sit on the mats with the babies and really share our "Mommy" stories. Since I am old enough to be Katie's Mom, it was fun to kind of re-live those years of raising my kids in our conversations. I remember her love of being a "stay home" Mom that matched my feelings as well. What has really struck me the most, is how life is so precious and we truly don't realize how quickly things can change.......and that any moments we have to share with other, may be our last. I am so blessed to have had my MOPS year with Katie and I will never forget her sweet and kind spirit. My prayers are with you all.........may God hold each of you in His precious Hands today and every day......

My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. I pray that Katie finds some relief and that you and your boys can pull strength from all of us thinking of you.

Dear sweet Katie,I hope your pain and vomiting are no longer a bother to you and you are able to rest comfortably.I have been working and today I was hoping to see a post from your wonderful loving husband;and he updated us even tho he has so much more on his mind.Kevin, may God Bless you and help you have the strength to continue to be as strong and as good as you are.I am sure you are exhausted but I know Katie knows you are beside her.I will as always continue to keep you and your family in my daily prayers and that the Dear Lord keeps you strong.
As always,
Your Crafting Pal,
Gayle

I am in tears. I've never met you or Katie but my heart breaks to hear that she is in such pain. I wish I could do something to take it away & allow your beautiful family to continue life without the monstrous cancer. I was so touched when I read how you both met & fell in love.
You are all in my thoughts & prayers.
Peace & love, Vina

Hi, Kevin,

I heard of Katie's passing and I'm saddened by your loss, but glad she is out of pain.

You truly are both an inspiration
