Good news!

Today's Shout Outs and a special note:

I just want to extend my thanks to everyone that continues to send me cards.  Many of you have sent me multiple cards in the last couple of months and it is so appreciated!!!  Also, I want to let you all know that you have practically made me a celebrity at my local post office.  Kevin was in picking up the mail and actually spoke to one of the employees at the counter and the employee was telling Kevin that they have all noticed that I get some pretty cool mail and that they make comments about it :)

Dear friends,

I have really great news to share with all of you!  Today was an appointment with my oncologist and it was a special visit since we had a CT scan to go over.  The results of the scan are quite promising and it boils down to the fact that I'm responding very well to my chemo treatments.  There is no visible evidence of the cancer in my ovaries, the tumor in my stomach has shrunk quite a bit, and my markers (the number that indicates the growth of tumors) have dropped significantly.  I'm responding well enough that I actually get to skip one treatment in April -  the one before our Disneyland trip.  I will resume my treatments as soon as we get back, literally the day after!

What does all this mean?  Well, I'm by no means even close to being cancer free, in remission, cured, etc. but because I'm responding well to treatment, our immediate future options are expanded.  If you remember, I spoke of how my oncologist described my future with cancer.  When things are going well, it just means that we have a wider range of decisions and choices that are available to us.  We will probably consult with Doctor(s) in Seattle and see if they have suggestions as to future choices that might be an option for us.  All of this isn't set in stone and we don't know what the immediate or long term future holds, but these results that we discussed today let us know that things look promising.

Thankfully, the news was good and it allowed me to give my oncologist this card with enthusiasm and joy!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Pure Innocence
Cardstock/Papers: Papertrey ink
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Copic Makers
Tools/Embellishments: Spellbinders, Copic Airbrush, May Arts twine, piercing tool, plastic canvas (guide of holes)

*********************************************

Until next time.

-Katie

Nothing but the best of cheer to you Katie. I love this cute bald doctor...is your doctor bald too?

And, after reading your post this AM (today's, that is), I would feel exactly the same. Being a planner, it would drive me nuts to not be able to "plan" for even the next day. So feel however you want. Maybe one of those lessons that come out of this is that you don't have to be anything for anyone else. Even your boys will learn through life that they don't have to be "on" all the time for everyone else and they will love you for that lesson. (My husband is "on" all the time and it is something he and I argue about. My kids don't have to be people-pleasers...they just have to please themselves, be satisfied people and the world will appreciate it.)

I've blathered too much...GTG take these older monsters to school!
